Brouillette- The first Brouillette to the New World
was from Angouleme, about
60 miles of Bordeaux, France, who migrated to
Canada. His descendants
migrated to Illinois and Louisiana. (Dr. Walter
Saucier)

Actually, the first Brouillet to the New World
was Michel Brouillet dit
Laviolette,
a soldier in the Company of Captain Louis
Petit,Carignan Regiment; landing in
Quebec aboard the Saint Sebastian on 12 September
1665. He was from Gouex,
Montmorillon, Poitiers, Poitou (Vienne) according to
Dictionnaire genealogique
des familles du Quebec by Rene Jette (page 177).
Three brothers who were
> descended from him migrated to Poste Vincennes
(Indiana) between July, 1773
and March, 1775.  One brother stayed and died in
Vincennes in 1797.  Another,
Louis, migrated to New Madrid (then Spain, now
Missouri) in 1792. The third, Francois, went to New Madrid, then Natchez,
Mississippi and then on to
Avoyelles Parish arriving there about 1798.
