Run 1479
THE “MISSING IN ACTION CAR PARK” RUN

Hares: Chris & Elbie
On Back: Hacienda Chris & Elbie

Despite the location described as the car park near the old American Embassy, a location not used in Hash parlance since HM has been involved, 28 brave souls including three brats and no hounds) managed to assemble and set off on the trail which was not at all of the usual standard for an AUH4 run! There were lots of clear chalk marks, lots of long false trails which even had the knitting circle in tow on several occasions, easy to find check back marks (well there were a lot of them) no crossing of any major roads, almost no soft sand, and only a few difficulties finding the arrows as the light began to fail (five minutes after we started…).

HM ‘Ooz ‘Ee got the gathering underway, but in the absence of the chief hare, Chris, gave down-downs to the co-hare Elbie and a bunch of short cutters. There was a group of new, young virgins including Elaine, Owen, Suhika & Zulal, and Simon (aka Love Handles), a more mature pseudo-virgin (we don’t know about his private life, but he has been on a Hash before, but not for a very, very long time…)

The evening’s RA, Humpty Dumpty, as usual picked on numerous innocent Hashers:
1. Maggie for trying to participate in the run, or at least the last 500metres, in her car!
2. Numerous female Hashers who still think the Hash is a fashion event and don’t wear hash t-shirts;
3. Doggy Fashion (Sue H) for going to the Mainland Hash run location at Mangrove Village instead of the Island’s – she must really have had a good time at the joint event!!
4. TinTin & family for short cutting
5. Vlad the Impaler (Frankie) for bringing her sex toy to Hash
6. Ballbreaker for overloading RA’s memory by ‘grassing’ so much.
7. Pashmina, of course, who got lost on the way to a shopping mall and stumbled across the hash by mistake.
After a relatively short circle (a term which would have most mathematicians in a fuddle), to the RA called On-On and the hashers feasted on chicken & chips & salads & pickles etc. to the usual standard from the Lebanese Flower.

This weeks run - 20 November 2006
This week’s run was announced as another off the island affair starting at Russ and Jo’s place, with directions given by Russ in such detail that it was obvious he had forgotten the level of intelligence of your average Hasher… For those with a poor memory the directions are given later.

Social secretary Ball Breaker announced that the Liwa weekend was now fully booked, so we won’t give any more details to avoid gate crashers…

On-On!

Run no. 1480:

Date: Monday 20th November
Location: Russ & Jo’s place (and Mathew’s and Danni’s)
Start: 18:00
Directions:
Head out of town on 30th Street, which becomes Musaffah road.
Continue all the way off the island going over Mussaffah bridge.
Follow signs towards the airport and Khalifah City, taking care to keep left when the right lane leaves for Musaffah.
You will see a big elevated "cloverleaf" overpass on your right and you should follow signs to Khalifah City North & Al Raha, going over the top of the overpass. This road becomes 16th street.
Carry straight on at the first roundabout.
Turn right at the second roundabout into 15th Street.
Continue to the next roundabout, passing the Social Support Centre on your left.
Turn left at the next roundabout into 34th street.
After a short distance turn left again, into 51st street.
You should park at the villa directly behind the Social Support Center.

To enable the maximum number of hashers to attend, the start has be delayed until 6 p.m. by which time it will be pretty dark. Therefore bring torches (flashlights).

Please note, this is "off the island" so allow at least 25 minutes to get there, and longer if you usually get lost (you probably will this time). When you get lost, call Russ on 050-268 5071. If you want a good map, look in the phone directory – they are not bad at all…

Subject: A2H3 Nash Hash 2006 Information

Greetings Hashers

Many of you will be aware that the Al Ain Hash House Harriers (A2H3) have traditionally run the United Arab Emirates Nash Hash on the UAE National Days of 2/3 December. Unfortunately now the Dubai Rugby 7s also use these dates and in recent years has become very popular, too the stage where it has taken precedence over the Nash Hash by many of our hashers.

The Al Ain Hash has sensibly decided not to compete with the Rugby 7s and therefore will slip the event one week to the 8/9 December 2006. The event is under the new name of ‘Not the Nash Hash 2006’.

This email is a ‘heads up’ to inform you all, that the event will run; details in the form of a flyer will be promulgated within the next week or so. Therefore I would be grateful if you would push this new date out to your fellow hashers, and mark in your diaries as a ‘must do’ event.

Another issue is that, in recent months there has been a tightening up of the border controls between Al Ain and Buraimi. Those who live in the area have seen many changes over the last year or so, including a new fence some eight feet high, that circumnavigates the UAE border. At major crossing points temporary control points have been introduced, and manned by immigration staff. New control points are also being constructed. Within a few months these will be operational.

With the introduction of these control points it has become necessary for us to concentrate our hashing within the UAE/Al Ain area. We have found a new Nash Hash site close to Al Ain on the UAE side of the border, which is ideal for hashing; it is isolated, with good runs on sand rock and subka. The camping is superb although each group or hasher will need to be self contained i.e. water, shelter etc.

Do come and join us, you will not be disappointed.

Kind Regards

Brian ‘Artic Fox’ Burgess
