Hello, teachers, home schoolers, students, and sundry others, welcome to my study guide.  As a home schooling mom, I love historical literature.  When I first started out I was always running out and looking for prepackaged  study guides.  They exist for lots of the books, but now I am interested in using the internet more and more.
When begin to read a book I look for what is already available.  There wasn't much on this book, so here I go.  Hope you find it helpful.  I recommend this book for junior high or higher, there is a bit of profanity, and issues that are too difficult for younger children to understand.  You will want to discuss the issues in the book with your student.  However, this is a rare book, and one that you won't want to miss.  Explain to your students that we don't agree with the use of some of the words but they are words that were used commonly by people of this time.
On my site you will find comprehension questions, vocabulary, recipes to make,  and story stretchers that will make the book come alive.     If you need the
answers for the questions please e-mail me by clicking the mail icon on the bottom of this page.    If you use the guide and like it, please e-mail me about "registering" the site.  Thank you, hope you enjoy my site.

Before you delve into the book, here is a "reading anticipation" site I found http://www.westga.edu/~kidreach/summergerman.html it is a brief overview of issues covered in the book.

Each link below  takes you to a page of my study guide

If you like this site, maybe you would like my first site,  called       Activities for Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder.  It is for younger kids but there are lots of fun things our Prairie Primer Co-op did together.
