Commandant Josephus (Seef) van Rensburg was born in 1876 in the Bloemfontein-district. His parents were b1c2d6e3f3g2 Josephus born 21 July 1847 and baptised at Riversdal 21 November 1847 and Sannie Fouche. He was elected in 1924 as Volksraadslid for Boshof, he held this position till 1939. He was then elected as senator for the National Party.
He
served in the following political positions - MPC Bloemfontein Noord (1910-1924);
National Party MP Boshof (1924-1938); Senator (1938-1959)
