What is Madness?

The Madman is Mad to Be, Mad to Become, Laughing in Totality, and Serious with the Weight of Death.

Madness, herein defined, means in a word, freedom. It is the capacity to consciously live over and beyond the limits we put upon the methods of day to day living that are inherited from society. The method is simply the realization that the self is not the single entity it is usually thought to be, but is comprised of many competing parts capable of asynchronous development.

The goal of Madness is the expansion of our manifold self through conscious (reflected and calculated) abandon to our minority selve's. These small potentialities of greater personhood cry out for release, and are instead shackled with institutional conformity, and the tyranny of an unchecked centralized mind.

The Madness is abstract, but life is lived concretely; this site and webring is devoted to the existential expansion of this seed of philosophy, and it's exigental renewing of our passion through art and prose. (Not to be anticlimactic, but you will also find some prosaic essays here. :-) )

Arise from your frozen wastelands.
