WHO’S THE ROCK ?

Question # 13

Deuteronomy 32:4, The Rock, perfect is His activity,…" Now look at 2 Samuel 22:32, "For who is a GOD besides Jehovah and who is a rock besides our GOD?" Now Psalm 18:2, "…My GOD is my rock…" Now Psalm 89:26, "…my GOD and the rock of my salvation." Ask, it seems pretty clear from these verses that Jehovah GOD is the Rock, and the only one, wouldn’t you agree? Now look at Romans 9:33, "As it is written: Look! I am laying in Zion a stone of stumbling and a rock-mass of offense…" Ask, who is this rock-mass referring to? Now look at 1 Corinthians 10:4, "…for they used to drink from the spiritual rock-mass that followed them, and that rock-mass meant the Christ." Now look at 1 Peter 2:8, And a stone of stumbling and a rock-mass of offense…" It is very clear from 1 Peter 2:4-7 that this verse and Romans 9:33 and 1 Corinthians 10:4 are referring to Jesus. Ask, doesn’t these three verses make it apparent that Jesus was to be the rock also? Also inform them that all three verses have cross-references to Isaiah 8:14 and have them look at Isaiah 8 starting with verse 13, "Jehovah of armies- He is the one whom you should treat as Holy, and He should be the object of your fear, and He should be the one causing you to tremble. 14. And He must become as a sacred place; but as a stone to strike against and as a rock over which to stumble…" Ask, here it says they will stumble over Jehovah, yet in Romans 9:33, 1 Corinthians 10:4, and 1 Peter 2:4-8, it is said to be Jesus; Doesn’t this imply that they are one and the same? Ask, are you aware that Isaiah 8:14 has a cross-reference to Romans 9:33 and 1 Peter 2:8 indicating that these verses are speaking of the same person?
