Our members are compiled of persons who have survived some form
of abuse. Whether it be verbal, physical or sexual abuse we now come together in
a joint effort to overcome what our abusers taught us to be and that is a
victim. Regardless of whether it's a mild or sever case of abuse the results are
similar in that it secedes in destroying self esteem and confidence. Often abuse
survivors become inflicted with the need to self harm, through cutting, eating
disorders, bingeing, purging and other afflictions. You will often find children
suddenly becoming withdrawn, angry, violent, acting out, obsessing sexually
alone or with other children.
When we find our children have become a victim of childhood abuse or
molestation it is important that we not try to hide the abuse. There is no shame
connected with being a victim, the shame develops only when we try to cover it
up. It is important that we open up and tell because if we keep it in the pain
then turns inward and will eventually consume us.
It's a long and painful journey, but recovering from abuse is possible
and if your ready to begin your journey we here are the Ark are dedicated to
helping you along that path. The Ark was designed to provide a safe supportive
environment where survivors can come together to discover resources that will
help them along their journey to recovery. Our forum is unique in that it is
owned by it's members and each of us is secure in our knowledge that the forum
and it's people will always be here. We offer posting boards, chat rooms,
articles and links to other great survivor resources throughout the web.
We are survivors and it sure beats being victims. Will you join us?
