Safari/Adventurer Steampunk Ensemble

For information on other pieces of this ensemble, see the links to the left. For pictures of the final outfit, click [here].

The Pants Muslin
After all of the trouble I had create a pants pattern for the Working-Class Ensemble, I didn't want to go through all of that trouble again, so I merely altered the final pattern of the capri pants to create the fuller pants for this ensemble. The waist and crotch seam remained the same, but I flared out the inner and outer side seams to add more fullness and curved the bottoms to match the new seams. The cuffs are simple rectangles cut to size from the measurement of my upper calf (plus seam allowance). I forgot to take a picture of the muslin on me before ripping it apart to use the pieces as my pattern, so here's a picture of the pant muslin spread out.

The Finished Pants
The pants are made from dark brown wool fully lined with matching silk habotai. The waistband is interlined with silk organza and interfaced for extra stability. The pant hems are gathered into 3" cuffs.

The Accessories
I accessorized the outfit with a leather hat that was purchased on our 2004 summer family trip to Australia. I think it fits perfectly with the safari/adventurer theme. The leather boots that I wear in the final pictures were purchased on sale at JC Penny's.
