Steampunk-Inspired Original Line: The Concept

All original garments start with the designer's inspiration and concept sketches. I was greatly inspired by the aesthetic of this group on LiveJournal. After choosing 'steampunk' as my theme, the next step was to sketch out my ideas and order fabric swatches. See many of the images that inspired me [here].

Fashion Sketches
Generally, a line consists of four to six complete ensembles. I chose to do four looks, each with a specific theme: Working Class, Upper Class, Military, and Safari/Adventurer. Most of the accessories shown in the sketches I already own (and I already had all of the shoes too, lol).

Fabric Swatches
The corresponding fabric swatches are shown below in the same order as the above sketchces: Working Class, Upper Class, Military, and Safari/Adventurer. The larger pics of the swatches are labeled with fabric type and intended use (i.e. raw silk - halter). The color, of course, isn't quite right due to my scanner, so the best color representation can be found in the pictures of the final outfits.
