For my final semester of coursework toward completing my Ph.D., I had six credits of free electives left. I decided after so many classes of theory and statistics that I wanted to do something creative for my final two classes. I chose to do two independent studies, one as a way to create my own line ("Line Development") and the other as a way to brush up on some of my apparel computer software skills ("Computer-Aided Design"). Originally I had planned on entirely different ideas for each independent study, but upon the recommendation of my advisor, I decided to use the same line of garments for both classes, thus eliminating some of the work and increasing the number of finished pieces I'd have by the end of the semester.
