I recently visited Cheyenne and I found the downtown
area to be a very vibrant and interesting place.  I
was saddened to learn that a county library project is
threatening one of the neighborhoods that contribute
to the unique flavor of downtown Cheyenne.  While in
Cheyenne I stayed as a guest of Jim and Lucy Woodman
who live in one of the houses slated for demolition.
I find it difficult to imagine that any good could
possibly come from the destruction of the Woodman
home.  Although I was only in their home for a few
days I could see that Mr. and Mrs. Woodman had put a
tremendous amount of work and love into making their
home and took well earned pride in it.  I am sure that
many others in that neighborhood feel the same way
about their home as well.  It seems to me that there
are many avenues that could be investigated that would
allow the county library facilities to be improved
while allowing these people to keep their property.
At the very least these residents have a right to be
heard and have their arguments heeded well before this
project could continue in good conscience.
