“Let me see here, yes I think this will do quite nicely. Thank you young lady.” The small
frizzy haired scientist said as he removed the needle from Mina’s arm. He let out a high
pitched giggle and then said “Most remarkable. Thank you.” The man carried the syringe
filled with Mina’s blood away.

“Sometime, you’re going to have to tell me what he’s doing with that blood.” Mina said
to the person in the white robe that entered shortly after the scientist had left.

“How would I know?” her trainer whispered in her ear. “I’m new to this gig.”

“Can I get up yet?” Mina asked. Her arms and legs had been paralyzed so the scientist
could do what he had to.

“Why not.” The trainer said as he pulled on the bar that would release his apprentice from
the table. “Now I think it’s time for another quick quiz. If you had half the chance, what
would you do to Raye and Serena when they began fighting?”

“It depends, some times I’d like to…” The man chuckled. “Hey, what is this!”

“Shh…” The trainer pulled back his hood. Marle grinned as she grabbed the metal band
from Mina’s forehead. “Keep it down.”

“What happened to Jeod?”

“He’s rather tired at the moment. It probably has something to do with the fact that I hit
him on the head with my crossbow.” Marle noted absently.

“How did you escape?” Mina whispered as feeling returned to her limbs.

“I passed their tests. Where’s your transformation stick?”

“That nutcase scientist took it.” Mina said pointing to the door the old man had used to
exit.

“Great. Come on, we have to get it back.” The two, Marle slipping the hood of the white
robe deeply over her head Mina bent over so no one could see she wore no band, heade
out after the man.

“For such an old guy, he sure moves fast.” Marle said as they continued passed Bacalles
citizens.

“There he goes.” Mina pointed to a door that was just shutting behind the man.

“I got it!” Marle stuck her foot in the path of the door preventing it from closing.

The room the two entered was full of boiling and bubbling beakers on Bunsen burners of
all sizes. Off to one side sat a cabinet with a dark glass window. Set on the counter next
to the cabinet was Mina’s trnsformation pen, which was hooked into some monsterous
apparatus of tubes and dials.

“Oh, so you are here to retrieve the artifact. Take it take it, I have no further need.” The
scientist said from behind the two. They gave a jump of surprise which the old man took
in stride. “So sorry to startle you.” He pulled the stick out and handed it to Marle.

“Thank you.”She said gratefully.

“It’s a remarkable piece of technology. Truly.” The man said. He then turned around and
promptly ignored Marle and Mina.

“What exactly are you doing in here?” Marle asked.

“Please keep it down, I am trying to work.” The scientist said irratably. “Go, go on, get!”
With surprising strenghth he shoved the two out of his lab.

“That was rude.” Marle mumbled as she continued on, pretending to lead Mina.

“Where are we going now?” Mina asked.

“I’m taking you back to the exit. It’s a room with a glowing platform in it. Stay in there
until I come with the others.”

“Now where did they go?” Renai shook her head. “It’s no use even trying to talk to them.
The police just come too fast.” She jumped down from the building she was perched on.

“Now let’s see…” She opened up the Black Book. “Hmm…” She flipped through
looking for some kind of hint as to where the Scouts went to after they fought. “Nothing.
Some help you are.” She slammed the book closed.

“Ah, how interesting. The poor little lamb is lost. Tell me girl, what makes you think you
can succeed where so many others have failed.”

“Excuse me?” Renai turned around.

“I said what make you think you can succeed where so many others have failed?” An old
man, his face creased severely with the lines of old age, asked in a breaking voice.

“I have to find them. They have a companion who I’m sure knows of my parents. See?”
She held out the book for the old man to look into.

“Yes, I know the man. What makes you think that he wants to help you? Why should he
care one way or the other? What’s in it for him?”

“I don’t know.” She sighed, “All I know is that I have to find him.”

“Well then, I’ll help you.” The old man nodded. “You may call me Brent.”

“Who asked for your help? I can do this on my own.” Renai denied the man.

“No you can’t, young one. This is a quest best suited for two people. You and myself.
What say you?”

“Fine, but you had better be able to keep up with me.” Renai grumbled.

“Excuse me then, but shouldn’t you be going that way? There is definatly an evil
prescence there.” The man pointed in the opposite of the direction Renai had turned to
go.

“Sure, gramps.” Renai continued of in her own direction.

“Suit yourself.” The old man said as he followed after her. An explosion rocked the air
from behind them. “Don’t say I didn’t tell you so.”

“Oh man…” Renai ran as fast as she could back towards the site of the explosion.

“Help me!” Raye screamed as the monster bore down on her. It slashed three times, one
to her throat, one to her middle, and one to her head. She dropped to the ground as the
monster roared triumphantly.

“Please…let me help her, she’s dying!” Serena pleaded as she pulled desperatly at the
invisable bonds that kept her from helping her friend.

“Correction, she’s dead. How was that? A shame that you didn’t do anything. Now on to
the next one.” The man in the white robe cackled.

“Serena, I’m here to save you!” Sailor Venus burst through the door.

“No, Mina! It’s a trap!” Serena wailed even though she knew it would do no good.

“Shh, I’ll have you out of here in a jiffy.” She began as she moved towards Serena.

“Behind you!”

“Wha?” Venus was slammed out of the way as a razorbacked monster appeared. “You
just decided to mess with the wrong person. Venus Crescent Beam, Smash!” The yellow
beam struck the monster squarely. It shook its head and lumbered forward again. “Huh?”

“Get out of here! Go now!” Serena shouted.

“Use your wand!” Venus shouted as she dodged around the monster.

“I can’t!”

Mina let all the air out of her lungs as the monster smashed one massive fist into her
stomach. “Come on Serena, save me.”

“I can’t.” Serena said softly. She knew what was coming next. The monster roared in
triumph as it picked Venus up and smashed her through a wall. “C’mon Mina, get up.”
She urged her friend softly. The monster kicked Venus a few times, let out a snort, and
bellowed until it faded slowly away.

“How wonderful. Now c’mon and do something. You know you want to.” The man
taunted.

“You can die!” Serena pulled again.

“Just what do you plan to do about it?”

“I’ll…I’ll…”She pulled again. “I’ll…” The crescent on her forehead flared into being.
“I’ll annihilate you!” The bonds shattered under the impact of a tremendous pink circle as
it erupted from Sailor Moon. The silver band on Serena’s forehead melted away as it
became to weak to control the awesome forces now built around Sailor Moon.

“Now Serena, calm down.” The man tried to reason in a fear pitched voice.

“You have hurt and tortured those who would protect the planet from your evil. In the
name of the moon you will be punished. Moon Tiara, Magic!” The disk projectile nailed
into the man sending him flying.

“My friends you evil man, where are they?” Sailor Moon asked as she picked the guy up
by his collar.

“All over the compound. Please don’t hurt me.” He pleaded.

“Show me.” She demanded thrusting him forward.

“As you wish.” He led her away.

**Meanwhile above **

“Mercury Ice Storm, Blast!” Sailor Mercury shouted unleashing the torrent of freezing
particles.

“Where are you hiding her?” The monster demanded as it sidestepped the attack.
“Spectre is willing to be lenient if you turn her over.”

“Who is she talking about?” The Red Ranger asked as he passed by while lining up a shot
with his Astro-Blaster.

“Haven’t got a clue.” Mercury replied.

“Sailor Mercury, Tetronite demands that you turn Rini over!” Another monster, this one
male, declared as it arrived.

“Tetronite? You are one of that weaklings creations? Die!” The first monster turned from
Mercury and the Red Ranger and began attacking Tetronite’s.

“Am I missing something here?” The Red Ranger asked Sailor Mercury.

“Whatever you’re missing, so am I.” Mercury watched in fascination as the two monsters
duked it out.

“Shouldn’t we destroy them both?” Red Ranger suggested.

“I thiink we should watch and see if we can’t figure out what’s going on.” Mercury
replied.

“You, Sailor Mercury!”

“Not another.” Ami sighed expecting another monster to come barreling down on her.
Instead she saw the strange girl from a few weeks ago who had given her the sword. “Or
maybe not.”

“Do you have any idea how hard you are to track down.” She demanded.

“Hopefully very, that’s the idea behind a secret identity.”

“Ha ha. Look, I have a few questions to ask you, particularly about this guy.”

“Magus? Sorry, I don’t know that much about him.” Mercury looked back at the two
brawling monsters. “Why do you need him?”

“I have to talk to him, please just tell him that I’ll meet him tonight in the square off of
Tenth Street at 9:00 sharp.” The girl pleaded.

“We are just a little busy right now.” Mercury said as the male monster disintegrated.
“Next time I see him, I’ll pass along the message.”

“Back to you two pests.” The monster declared. “Give me your energy!”

“Come and get it.” Red Ranger said as he lunged towards the monster.

“Red Ranger, out of the way, I’ll blast it again.” Sailor Mercury shouted.

“Power Punch!” Red Ranger pressed a button on his morpher, blasting the monster with
energy.

“Mercury Ice Storm, Blast” The monster was covered again by the rain of ice.

“It’s you.” The monster eye widened when it spotted Renai. “Spectre will have you
destroyed for…” It disintegrated into a small pile of dust.

“Why would Spectre want you destroyed?” Sailor Mercury asked.

“According to this book, she knows who my parents were and is jealous of the power I
may have.” Renai said. “That’s why I want to talk to this Magus guy, he knows who my
parents are.”

“I don’t really have the time to talk about this right now, I’ll try to come with Magus.”
Sailor Mercury said. She jumped overr the girls head and disappeared in three leaps.

“That was productive.” Brent said sarcastically. “Tell me, do you ever get your foot out
of your mouth, or do I always get to be this amused.”

“Shut up.”

“That still leaves Lita and Serena unaccounted for.” Marle said to Raye as she ushered
Crono into the exit room.

“I couldn’t find either of them. Did you check out the Vaca Room?”

“Everywhere in there, nothing.”

“You two had better hurry, Brollo is getting ticked now that his latest catches are all
disappearing. By the way, I found something you lost.” Magus said as he unfolded his
cape.

“Serena!”

“Raye? Mina? You’re O.K? You have no idea how glad I am to see you.” Serena sprang
from magus and hugged both her friends. “They kept killing you over and over and over,
I couldn’t believe it. You’re okay.”

“Killing?”Raye and Mina asked.

“Never mind that. Raye, Marle, Lita is in the Queens audience chamber. I’ll send this
group home while you take care of the problem. Go, quickly.” Magus ordered.

“Got ya’.” Marle grabbed Raye and the two left.

“So now what do we do, just waltz in there and take Lita back.” Raye asked as they made
their way towards the Queens chamber.

“I don’t know, I guess that could work.”

“Marle.” Raye gave her an exasperated look.

“O.K. maybe not.”

“Stop, you are under arrest for high treason.” A group of guards said from in front of
them.

“Uh oh.” Raye turned to bolt in the opposite direction.

“Freeze.” Another group closed them in from behind.

“There’s your answer Raye.” Marle said as she raised her arm into the air.

“Joy.”

++A little later ++

“And what are the charges being brought before this court?” The queen demanded from
her seat. She looked remarkably like Zeal, the insane ruler of the long ago kingdom of
Magic. Right down to the expression of extreme anger now creasing the face.

“These two are charged with conspiracy to destroy a natural resource. They were seen
leading apprentices to the exit chamber. When we investigated they were gone.” The
Guard Captain declared.

“Very well, what says the condemed?”

“You people are sick, imprisoning humans and then treating them like animals! Just
because you’re afraid of something that happened more than a thousand years ago. It
wasn’t the magic users fault that Zeal was destroyed and that you were transported here.
It was the Queen and Lavos who were responsible.” Marle said, her face red with anger.

“What do you know of the Kingdom?” The Queen leaned forward.

“I was there when the Black Omen was presumed destroyed.”

“Then you are also responsible for the deaths of many other humans including Queen
Zeal and Prince Dalton. We add homocide to the charges. The sentence is death.”

“Now just a second. Zeal was an evil and corrupt leader. She was willing to have
everyone in the Black Omen be destroyed to be more powerful.” Marle protested.

“And what about you? How do you fit into this?” The Queen asked Raye.

“I don’t know anything about Zeal or this Black Omen, but what I did was right and I am
willing to face your charges. Imprisoning people and then torturing them is a practice that
in itself is evil.” She replied.

“I testify to that.” A mle voicee rang out.

“Yes Mage Daton, what do you testify to?” The Queen asked in a surprised voice.

“I testify that the cruel treatment that apprentices are forced to undergo is wrong. We
should discontinue the whole thing as soon as possible.”

“If we do that then how do we control the magic users? We want no repeat of what
happened to Zeal and her enlightened followers so close the invasion.”

“What happened to Zeal and her followers was their own fault, your Majesty. I have seen
into this ones memory and believe very strongly that Zeal was not the heroine she was
made out to be.” Erline interuppted.

“So, you are nothing more than an idiot barely within your robes. Mage Daton may have
been around for a while, but he is only one.” The Queen insisted.

“This trial must end, lest Bacalles and her people join their enlightened anscestors.” A
woman in black robes stepped forward.

“Yes Oracle, what can we do to aid you?” The Queen asked in a reverant voice, glancing
nervously at her prisoners.

“I demand the release of Raye Hino and Marle Guardia immediately into my custody.”
Oracle said. “All of their companions are now released as well.”

“As you wish Oracle, so shall it be done. Release the prisoners. Allow that one her
freedom as well.” The Queen pointed to Lita who had been moved off to the side when
the guards had dragged in Raye and Marle. “Is there anything elsee you require Oracle?”

“Not for the moment no, continue with your studies. Mage Daton and Trainer Erline, I
wish to speak to you. Come with me young ladies.” Oracle gestured for Lita, Raye, and
Marle to follow her.

“Thank you, Oracle. But why did you help us?” Marle asked.

“Because you tell the truth, which is more than I can say about most of that court.”
Oracle replied. “Now I will use my magic to send you back to the surface, warn your
allies that the Bacalles will invade in two days. Be prepared to stop them. Take this to.”
She held out a long, flat, box. “Open it only where the rainbow was lost.”

“The Rainbow?” Marle managed to get off before Oracle’s magic swept them away.

“The communicators are working again.” Ami said jubbilantly. “Guys, this is Ami, come
in.”

“Ami? It’s Serena! You have no idea how much I’ve missed you.”

“Believe me, the feeling’s mutual. Head for Marle’s place the Rangers and I’ll meet you
there. Magus’ friends too.”

++Tetronite. ++

“You are sure that this will work?”

“Of course Tetronite. I don’t make mistakes. All you need now are subjects.”

“I already have them chosen. Come in now.” A door on the left side of the bridge opened.

“Yes Tetronite. What do you want now?” A girl with long dark hair asked.

“When do we get to go home.” One with orange hair asked as she straightened her jacket.

“Soon enough my dears. I want you to meet Dr. Lars. He’s here to help you all.”

“Where did you find such lovely young ladies?” Dr. Lars asked “they will fit this project
quit well I think yes. So who is to be the leader?”

“I am.”

“That would be Kara, Doctor.” Tetronite said indicating a tallish girl with short purple
hair and green eyes.

“Ahh, yes, how interesting. I think we are ready to begin then Tetronite.” The doctor let
out a high pitched giggle of triumph. “Those pests won’t know what hit ‘em.”

“They had certainly better not.” Tetronite glowered.

Meanwhile, elsewhere someone else is receiving some rather distressing news.

“Whadda ya’ mean Gary’s already been here!” Ash demanded to the clerk at the Trinity
Town Poke’ Mart.

“He stopped in about three days ago. Bought some potion and then left, said he was going
to Cinnabar Island.”

“C’mon Brock, Misty. We gotta get there before Gary does.”

“It’s fascinating how often the time line will shift suddenly, Spekkiko.” Gaspar observed
to his monsterous companion. “Truly amazing.”

“This is boring.” Spekkiko complained.

“Boring, but fascinating.” Gaspar turned his attantions back to the time stream.

Aninotes:

No, Ash and his friends will not be making a real appearance in the next chapter.
Probably not for another four. I t depends. I put them in here so people could send me
