Letter to Mom

Mom, please don’t feel guilty
It was just my time to go.
I see you are still feeling sad,
And the tears just seem to flow.
We all come to earth for our lifetime,
And for some it’s not many years
I don’t want you to keep crying
You are shedding so many tears.
I haven’t really left you
Even though it may seem so.
I have just gone to my heavenly home,
And I’m closer to you than you know.
Just believe that when you say my name
I’m standing next to you,
I know you long to see me,
But there’s nothing I can do.
But I’ll still send you messages
And hope you understand,
That when your time comes to “cross over,”
I’ll be there to take your hand.

Cathy was an RN and worked mostly in pediatrics and in neonatal intensive care, and always wanted a child of her own. Her baby was two weeks over due, and after being in induced labor for two days, they decided to do a C-section. In the recovery room, she got into trouble with her asthma, which had always been a problem for her. She vomited, aspirated, and went into respiratory arrest. I was right there, and when the nurse did not react, I did, but was told that I had to leave, and "could not do that". I told the nurse that I was a nurse and an EMT and that I did this all the time, but they made me leave. Alexis Marie Martin was born on 10/20/99. Cathy "coded" in the recovery room within an hour after the C-section and never regained consciousness. By the time they resuscitated her, it was too late and she was brain dead. They left her on a respirator for a week and then let her go. She was my first born.

Here I am with Cathy's daughter Alexis, from Christmas 2006.

Here's Alexis after her Ballet Recital. "Thanks to all my FANS!!!"

"Am I Just TOOOO CUTE!!! "

Cathy's favorite color was blue. She loved the ocean, especially the coast of Maine. She always dreamed of having a house on the coast of Maine overlooking the ocean. She had a nautical theme to her decorating of her home.
She loved lighthouses and teddy bears.

Cathy even had a little teddy bear bride and groom topper on her wedding cake. She was married on 5/3/97, to Jim Martin. Cathy was always known for her smile. Everyone said it would light up a room, and she smiled all the time.

She was a great encourager to everyone in all things. Her motto was always, "Don't Quit, you can do it." She would greet everyone with a big hug, and she had a great gift for taking care of children, they were drawn to her like a magnet. She loved to get right down on the floor and play with them.

When it was medication time on her pediatric floor at the hospital, Cathy could always get the kids to take their medication, even when no one else could. She also worked as a charge nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y.. She graduated from Samaritan Hospital School Of Nursing, in Troy, N.Y. Before that she graduated from St. Mary's High School, in Hoosick Falls, N.Y. She was born in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., and we moved to Petersburg, N.Y. when she was 5. She was a very severe asthmatic all of her life, which I am sure contributed to her death when she aspirated, and broncho-spasmed.

This photo above is of Cathy's daughter, Alexis Marie, born 10/20/99.
Doesn't she look ever so much like her Mommy?

My Mom Is A Survivor

My Mom is a survivor, or so I've heard it said.
But I hear her crying at night when all others are in bed.
I watch her lay awake at night and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her to help her understand.
But like the sands on the beach that never wash away...
I watch over my surviving mom, who thinks of me each day.
She wears a smile for others...a smile of disguise.
But through Heaven's door I see tears flowing from her eyes.
My mom tries to cope with death to keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows it is her way to survive.
As I watch over my surviving mom...through Heaven's open door.
I try to tell her that angels protect me forever more.
But I know that doesn't help her or ease the burden she bears.
So if you get a chance, go visit her...And show her that you care.
For no matter what she says...no matter what she feels.
My surviving mom has a broken heart that time won't ever heal~!

For Cathy ~
May you have great joy in heaven
as you watch over your sweet little daughter and your loved ones
I know you have left a big hole in everyone's hearts
But one day you will all meet again
And what a joyous reunion that will be
God bless you and keep you until you all meet again.

Dear Pat and ANGEL Cathy
This is a poem my ANGEL Lee wrote, one of many, I would love to share it with you.

CORE

Softness of the skin
Sweetness in the smell
Nectar of the fruit
Tender in the heart
Dancing in the eyes
Uplifting in the smile
Tickle of the touch
Joining in the love

Truth in the speech
Love in the laughter
Primal in the scream
Soft in the whisper
Quick in the mind
Fair in the sentence
Brave in the confrontation
Joining in the love

Graceful in the sleep
Careful in the search
Deep in the sorrow
Strength in the sickness
Giving of thy self
Rich in the health
Kind in the giving
Joining in the love
