Hello, minna-san! Welcome back to another year of Anime conventions & Cosplayer pictures brought to you by Anime Ng's Freestyle Cosplay Photographs! It's going to be a busy year for Trowa Al here, with more conventions planned than previous years. Last year I attended 5 conventions, but this year I plan to attend (hopefully) 8-9 conventions.. quite a lot, don't you think?
ANFCP kicks off the new year with a great convention: Katsucon 7! This convention was held in Crystal City, VA from February 16th-18th 2001, and yours truly didn't mind flying across the U.S. for it, since I knew it was going to be a lot of fun. And unlike last year when I travelled by myself, this year I had 3 of my good friends as travelling buddies: Gina, Fernando, and Ace. But we weren't alone, as we met up with our good friends who live out in the East Coast but come out to West Coast cons also: Ashley, Kelly, Yaya, and ACP man Henry. Gina met up with some friends she knows and cosplayed together, and as for me, I was on a mission to meet up with the East Coast Cosplayers I've seen at previous East Coast cons and taken their pictures. To my surprise, I handed out a LOT of the reprints to the cosplayers that I took at cons like AWA '99, Katsucon 2K, and Otakon 2K. It was nice seeing cosplayers I met before like Heather, Derek & Alisa, Maryssa, Carolina, Elly, and others. Talking online to cosplayers before meeting them at a con was nice, and at Katsu I was able to finally meet the talented Christy, Dommi, Iris, and Lindze who were very nice and great cosplayers. :) Sadly, Anna-neko couldn't make it, and I (as a member of CosMen) so wanted to meet her in person since taking her pics back at AWA '99. But she was there in spirit ^_^ and there's always Otakon 2001 to finally introduce myself to her.. (more on Anna shortly) In terms of taking pictures of Cosplayers, which was mainly why I went to Katsucon (and any anime convention) and was prepared (10 rolls) After Day 1 (Friday) I had already used up 4 rolls, and said "Uh-oh.. I hope I won't have to spend $10 for a roll of film from the Hyatt's gift shop!" since I still had to take lots of pics for the IronCat Kitty Cosplay Calendar Photo Shoot, American Cosplay Paradise, CosMen, the Cosplay Mailing List, and the aftermath of the Saturday Nite Masquerade with all the great costumes. BUT, I managed to get all the good shots I needed and the last picture of roll #10 ended with a parting shot of me and my friends.. Katsucon 2001 TIED my record for rolls of film taken at a single convention, AnimeExpo 2000, but I believe Fanime 2001 will break that record by a landslide.. ^_^;; But ANFCP's trusty camera broke during the Ironcat Kitty fun on Saturday, (after 11 years of faithful service!) but it still kept going for those 10 rolls.. For Fanime (and on) I'll have a new camera, which will hopefully take as nice of pictures as you've seen or are about to see.. |

Overall my friends and I had a great time, and for them it was their first time attending Katsucon, (let alone an East Coast con) so my influence for them to go helped a little.. hehe So here are the majority of the pictures I took at Katsucon, and I hope you enjoy them!
