Kibble
A versatile recipe for dog kibble (dry crunchy dog food)
This recipe can be adjusted to suit your dogs needs,
remember to consult your vet, before changing ingredients.
Different ingredients may not have as much nuturients.

1 lb Chicken Livers (or Salmon)
2 Teaspoons Garlic Powder (or 1 clove fresh garlic, minced)
1/4 Cup Olive Oil
1/4 Cup Water
1/4 Cup uncooked rice (can be ommitted if using at least 2T rice flour)
3 Eggs (including the shells)
1/4 Cup Dried leafy green vegetable (Kale, spinach, etc)
1 teaspoon Honey, Molasses, or Brown Sugar
1/4 Cup Grated carrot (not shredded)
1/4 Cup Rolled Oats OR Wheat Germ
1 Teaspoon Brewer's Yeast
2-4 Cups Flour - rice, soy, whole wheat, all-purpose, or mix of these
Olive Oil (to grease cookie sheet)
NOTE: Rice flour is best, as it is easier to digest, soy flour has more protein,
all-purpose flour is not as healthy, but will do.
Using two knives, cut livers in the blood
(as you would cut fat into flour) until it is finely chopped.
Heat olive oil in large skillet on medium.
Add garlic and cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add livers to skillet, & cook well, crumbling it as you would ground beef.
When fully cooked, add 1/4 Cup water,& bring to boil, stirring constantly.
Reduce heat. Add rice, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
Remove from heat, and pour mixture into large mixing bowl.
Beat on low with electric mixer until mixture is well mixed & ground together.
Add eggs to mixture, placing shells and kale in a separate bowl.
Grind shells & greens as fine as possible (powdered), add to mixture, and beat well.
Add sugar, carrot, wheat germ, yeast, and 1/2 Cup Flour. Beat thoroughly.
Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Shape into bite-size pieces.
Bake at 350 for 20-45 minutes, depending on size of pieces.
Turn oven down to 200 and bake another hour. Cool.
Store in air-tight container.
Feed 1 Cup for every 20 lbs of dog's weight, or as directed by your pet's veterinarian.

Canine Cookies

1 cup milk

3 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp garlic salt
1/2 cup bacon fat, meat drippings or lard
cup shredded cheese
1 egg, beaten
add bacon fat, cheese and egg.
Gradually add enough milk to form dough.
Knead dough on lightly floured surface.
Roll dough to about 1 inch thick.
Bake about 12 minutes or until cookies start to brown.
Cool and store in air tight container.
You can cut cardboard bone shape and use to cut out cookies.

Basic Dog Biscuits

3 1/2 cup unbleached flour,
2 cup whole wheat flour,
1 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup skim milk powder
1 tablespoon (or 1 package) dry yeast
3 1/2 cups lukewarm chicken or meat broth
Dissolve the yeast in the lukewarm chicken or meat broth.
The richer this broth is, the better your dog will like the biscuits.
Let yeast broth mixture set 10 min. Then stir in flour mixture .
Roll resulting dough out 1/4" thick. Cut dog biscuit shapes from dough.
Brush biscuits with egg wash. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 300* for 45 min.
Then turn off oven and leave in overnight to finish hardening.
Makes 60 medium-sized biscuits.

Liver Dog Treats

1 pound raw liver (any kind) blended into a paste.
1 egg
1 cup flour
1/2 cup corn meal (or flour)
1/4 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Mix well and bake at 350 for 1/2 hour for chewy treats, longer for crisper treats.

Flea Hater's Dog Biscuits

Brewers yeast is a natural anti-flea remedy.
Makes about 5 dozen bone biscuits
1 cup flour
1/4 cup wheat germ
1/4 cup brewer’s yeast (available at health-food stores)
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon plus 1 1/2 teaspoons canola oil
1 clove garlic, chopped medium
1/2 cup chicken stock plus 3 tablespoons for basting
1. Heat oven to 400 degrees. Line a sheet pan with parchment paper.
Mix flour, wheat germ, brewer’s yeast, & salt together in a bowl.
In a mixing bowl, combine oil & garlic.
Alternately add 1/2 cup chicken stock & flour mixture in 3 parts;
mix until well combined. Knead about 2 minutes by hand on floured surface;
dough will be sticky.
2. On a lightly floured surface, roll dough out about 3/8 inch thick.
Cut out bone shapes; place on prepared baking sheet.
Bake 10 minutes, rotate baking sheet,
and baste with remaining 3 tablespoons chicken stock.
Bake 10 minutes longer. Turn off oven, leaving oven door closed.
Leave pan in oven for 1 1/2 hours longer.
