Reneah Raffay: Artista Ins and Outs
Join for this small, personal embroidery digitizing retreat March 16 - 19, 2005 in Amish country featuring digitizing instructor Reneah Raffay. In-depth attention will be given to learning intermediate digitizing skills through a project based lesson plan using Artista V4 Designer software, but ample time has also been set aside for digitizing on your own, sewing, shopping, or just exploring Amish country, on your own or as a group.  In addition, this retreat has been scheduled to coincide with the Amish Quilt Show featuring guest Eleanor Burns.  Eleanor Burns will be signing quilt blocks at the show on Friday and Saturday, March 18th and 19th and will lecture on Friday evening, March 18th.  See details on the the lecture and quilt show below.

This retreat is being held in scenic Holmes County, Ohio.  The retreat venue is Linda's Quilting Retreat in Berlin, OH which features condos with complete sewing and quilting set-ups including sewing table and light for each participant, 2 ironing boards and one cutting table with mat per unit!  A restaurant is located within walking distance and several within a short drive.  A fabric store is also located within walking distance if you find you need additional items and several are located within just a few miles.  In addition, a Bernina Dealer, Chestnut Ridge Sewing, is also nearby.  (You might want to check out the lovely all wood Amish sewing cabinets available at this dealer, some especially for home embroidery machines.)

Each condo will house four participants.  Each condo has 2 bedrooms; one with a queen bed, one with two twin beds and a sleep sofa in the "living area".  While each participant will have their own bed, we can't guarantee a private room.  Each condo also features a full kitchen so you can bring goodies for snacking or even preparing your meals if you prefer.   The digitizing classes will be housed in the living area of one of the condos.

What will you need to bring?  All you need to bring are your laptop (or pc) loaded with Artista V4 Designer digitizing software, sewing/embroidery machine and sewing/embroidery supplies for the projects you are working on.  A supply list will be provided for the lesson project.

The retreat will cost $250 which includes the digitizing classes with Reneah and your stay at the retreat venue.
Cost of instructional materials, if any, will be extra.  Tickets for the quilt show and Eleanor Burns lecture are extra as described below. They may be ordered and paid for with the final retreat payment.  Meals and other activities are paid by individual.

A $50 non-refundable deposit is required to hold your space at the retreat.
PayPal is the preferred method of payment although personal checks will be accepted.  Your space will not be guaranteed until your check has cleared.  To pay by PayPal, please send an email using the link below and you will receive a return email requesting the payment which will include instructions on using PayPal to make your payment.  If you prefer to pay by personal check, please make checks payable to E.A. Who is Liz Clark and how did this retreat come to be?

I am one of a group of ladies who meet monthly in each others homes in the Dayton, Ohio area to learn and practice digitizing techniques using the Artista V4 Designer digitizing software.  Some of us attended a seminar with Reneah about a year ago and tossed around the idea of this retreat as our next digitizing educational event.  Holmes county was suggested as the location, so I checked it out during my summer vacation.  I loved the area and knew I wanted to go back.  So I put together this retreat!
