The Film Shooting Group

by Alireza Mehrani

In order to study the eclipse more precisely, we had a film of the incident. To do so, we used a modern Betacam which we focused towards the Sun, having Mylar filter installed on it. We started our work ten minutes before the total eclipse and ended the work ten minutes after the eclipse. Before this, we shooting film for one minute within five minutes.

I had sat in front of the monitor of the camera helping in the regulation of the light. About 25" before the total eclipse, we removed the filter from the camera and could register the diamond ring and Baily's beads. When the phenomenon started, we decreased and increased the amount of the entering light for several times and could take suitable photos from the solar flares and corona. About 20" after the total eclipse, we put the filter on the camera again and registered the last phases of the eclipse, too.

My friends in Esfahan who had taken many members of ATCA to a recreational place in the city, did the filming of the eclipse by means of a Handycam camera. We also managed to have a short film from the emergence of shadow band, both before and after the total eclipse.

We have planned to make a film from our activities on the eclipse. If the work comes to be suitable, we will send it to our friends in different countries.
