Our Visit to the Volcano
This is a three-dimensional map of the island at the
entrance to Volcano National Park. David is pointing
to the spot where we live on the island.
David took a photo of a poster on why birds die in the park.
The edge of the crater. You can see clouds of steam coming
out of the ground along the edges. Later photos will show us
standing next to those steam plumes.
Looking out over the crater.
Amber walking past steam vents.
David next to more steam vents.
More steam vents.
David was fascinated by the toilets and had to take a picture.
They were a bit uncomfortable because they just dumped into
a big hole in the ground and were vented, so when you went,
COLD air was rushing past your butt the whole time.
The massive crater.
There are places all over the park where
steam seeps out of cracks in the ground.
