Phi Facts and History
Alpha Phi was established in 1872 in Syracuse, NY.
Ten women started Alpha Phi:  Martha Foote Crow, Kate Hogoboom Gilbert, Clara Bradley Burdette, Florence Chidester Lukens, Ida Gilbert Houghton, Elizabeth Hubbell Schults, Rena Micheals Atchinson, Louise Shepard Hancock, Clara Sittser Williams.
The cornerstone of the first Alpha Phi chapter house was laid on June 22, 1886
The Alpha Phi Quarterly was first published in 1888.
Our Chapter, Eta Psi was established at Eastern Washington University in 1990.
The Symbols of Alpha Phi are the Ivy leaf, Lily of the valley, Forget-Me-Nots, and the "phi-bear."
The colors of Alpha Phi were originally blue and gold but were changed to  silver and bordeaux in 1879.
Alpha Phi is the 4th oldest  and 4th largest sorority.
The letter Phi is pronounced "phee" since this is grammatically correct after following the vowel Alpha.
Alpha Phi is one of the three International Sororities.
