This concerns all people researching
the villages of Vianden, Clervaux, Bech, Consdorff, Geichlingen, Merchingen,
the name of Alff in all it’s from (Alf, Alef, Allef, Aleff, Aleph,…),places
especially in Vianden Petges field and Schmidbach; the fellowship of
St.Nicolaij and St.Nicolaij and Sta. Catharina.
And last but not least the
families in and around Vianden Brachmond, Tilliot, Eijd, Kippert, Bauler,
Stein, Schreiffels, Deruelle, Cremer/Cramer/Kremer/Kramer, Lioné/Lyonel,
Mohnen, Streben/Streveler, Gallas. I have information about all of those
families, people who are interested in specific information may contact me,
every piece of information or document is welcome.
Important piece
of news 07.07.2006:
As of last Monday (third of
July 2006) I have found an interesting piece of information in a legal paper
from the second of September 1742 form Vianden.
A Michel Alff from Consdorff
is mentioned donating a piece of land to a Vianden cousin. I couldn’t believe
my eyes. The evidence that there is 3 lines have merged into one. This is
extraordinary, since even I thought that I would not be that lucky.

I have been doing quite a bit of research the last couple of months.
(Mainly lawyers papers from the 17th and 18th century from Vianden (L)) As well
concerning the origin of the name(s) Ulp, Alp, Alf, etc
As I knew that the Alffs where coming from Bleialff (now Bleialf) (called
ALFF before they found lead in the 16 century)
But since I have found that there has been a roman settlement called COLONIA ULPIA
TRAIANA (now Xanten****) ULPIA NOVIOMAGUS BATAVORUM (now Nijmegen (NL)) both
settlements called after the roman emperor. (Marcus ULPIUS Traianus***) one can
assume that he is the origin of all those names.
People who left those settlements where known as from Ulpia.
Pronunciation and not knowing how to write it correctly changed the original
spelling and settlements with the following names where founded after.
