Alaska Rottweiler Rescue

This page is dedicated to the ones that have adopted a Rottweiler. Without them, so many wonderful Rottweilers would be killed. Following you will find letter(s) telling of how their recently adopted Rottie is fitting into their lives.

If YOU have adopted from Rottweiler Rescue in Alaska,
Please send us your story!!

Received from Bernie's new people (Fall, 2003):

Bernie is doing GREAT. He remembers all of his training and is a pleasure to have in our home. As he gets a bit older, he is calmer and seems happier. When he first came, and for the first 9 months he was here, he hardly ever wagged his tail. He wags it all the time now and seems quite content. He has definitely bonded with us and we with him. We work with Bernie each day reinforcing commands and he is a joy. I cannot thank you enough for all of your wonderful work and help with us, mainly, and Bernie. We are grateful for you introducing us to him. We would have missed a lot if we had never known him.

Received from Baby's family (Fall, 2003):

Baby has been with us for a 1 1/2 yrs now and I couldn't imagine our home without her. During our 5,000+ mile trip in the motorhome to Virginia, she behaved incredibly well. She insisted on laying between the drivers seat and the passenger seat, curling herself up impossibly small to fit!

Everyone who meets her falls for her & she is a sweetie to almost everyone. Baby LOVES other dogs, of all sizes, and is gentle with them. She was a great sister for Bernie when we fostered him, allowing him to chew on her, sit on her and lay on her. She played wonderfully with two Boston Terriers during a visit with my mom, although she seemed a little bewildered by their speed and energy levels! She is a love bug and my velcro dog. Baby is a Baby... by name and by nature and seems to know now that she is stuck with us forever.

Update Dec '04: Unfortnuately, Baby has passed away. I am so glad that she was able to know a family loved her unconditionally before she passed.

Comments received from adopters in 2001:

"Jake is doing sooooo great. He has learned to sit... wait... and his stay is getting very good too. He has learned to go to the door and he slaps it one time and then looks at me. He hasn't had an indoor accident in quite some time now. I am sooooo proud of him. He is incredibly smart about everything. You just have to tell him once or twice what you want and he does his very best to please you. He is the smartest little guy. I am sooo proud of him. He continues to amaze me." ~ L.W.

"We changed Woody's name to Franz but Woody is his middle name. Thank you soo much for him!! He is just wonderful and very smart. We take him everywhere!! He is never home on the weekends. Everyone loves him. He is already getting sooo big! My vet thought he was beautiful, and they are very happy for me. He has for sure filled that big hole in my heart, but there will always be a special place there for my old dog Hans!" ~ T.W.

This handsome boy is one of 8 puppies (brother to Jake & Franz above) that were saved from euthanasia at Anchorage Animal Control in the summer of 2001. Since the mother whelped the litter there, they are unable to raise puppies, so I took them out! His new name is Hunz (pronounced Hans) and he is currently being spoiled ROTT'n by his dad & attending puppy school.

Update: 5/22/00 - Dana passed her Canine Good Citizen test!!

I just wanted to drop a line to let everyone know what a great job Laura Pabst of the Kenai Rottie Rescue has done placing my husband and I with a needy rottie. We adopted a 2 year old female rottie from the rescue down in Kenai and she is such a wonderful girl. We are going to obedience training at the Cook Inlet Kennel Club in Wasilla. She is very smart and loves to talk back, very vocal. My husband and I previously had a 2 year old male rottie and he had to be put down due to bone cancer.

Our new girl, which we have named Dana, is a joy. She is the most gentle lap dog I ever owned. She sleeps next to our bed at night and waits patiently every morning for us to get out of bed and let her out to potty. She has become so trusting with us in only the 5 weeks that we have had her, she especially loves to get tummy rubs. Thanks to all the people out there that take the time to ensure that all the loving creatures out there that need homes find them, especially to Laura for working with us and for finding the new love of our lives, our little something special!
