OK, was it just me, or was there *way* too much weirdness going on in the season 4 finale of Buffy? I mean, when Willow was running between those red curtains I kept expecting to see a horse jumping on a bed and a dancing midget speaking backwards (sorry, obscure "Twin Peaks" reference going there for a minutes) Anyway, it was totally weird. However, I felt I had to devote an area of my site to it because I've seen way too many people panning it. Yeah, it was kind of anti-climactic after Adam's death, but you gotta admit the concept was pretty cool. Credits to Joss, he never ceases to amaze me.

Plus there was the whole cheese guy. You know "behold the power of cheese" and all that. I think it might be some kind of dairy conspiracy. You know, first Sarah and David did those Milk Mustache ads, and now there's this weird cheese guy? Who knows. Anyway, I really appriciated when the guy had it on his head and he said "I wear the cheese, the cheese does not wear me!"

Seriously, though, there was some deep content for those who were looking for it. Willow's part in the incantaion was "Spirit" and her fear was having the spirit sucked right out of her, that she'd go back to being good old "softer side of Sears" Will we knew so well in the begning. And Xander's part of the incantation was heart, which was removed from him at the end of his dream. His dream was about being stuck in the same place, never moving on, not having the heart, the courage, to do something with his life. I guess heart also has something so do with love, which in a teenagers mind = sex, which explains the weirdness with Joyce!  Giles' dream was about the mind (which is presumably why he was scalped at the end of it). Since his was the mind, he was naturally the one who figured everything out. (BTW, complete side note, I love the fact that he sang so much this season. He used to play Frank-n-furter in the Rocky Horror Picture Show, and I'm dying to get my hands on a recording of him singing that. But I digress ...) And then Buffy. The hand. The one who makes it all happen ... I dunno. It just all makes sense to me. And I liked that they all had a warm fuzzy moment together after such a season of turmoil.
