Ted Dixon took this photograph in 1975 at the Church of England in Hutton Rudby, where the book was still in use. Note that the date of marriage is different from that given in the History of Charles Dixon, published in 1891. Although Charles and Susanna were Methodists, at the time only the Church of England could perform marriage ceremonies. Also of interest is the fact that Susanna could write – it was 100 years before the next woman in the book could sign her name.
