Applause, Applause - Robin Christopher - Outstanding performer for the week of Feb. 19

Skye "Chandler" lost her identity this week on One Life to Live.  The usually cocky and imperious woman became a desperate child as she grappled with the truth that her hated enemy Rae is actually her mother.  Even more disturbing was the news that adored daddy Adam isn't her biological father.  And how cruelly ironic that a plan to clear Skye of a crime she didn't commit put her in prison just the same - an emotional prison.  The more incarcerated Skye felt, the more compelling Robin Christopher's performance became.
When Todd finally dropped the bomb, Skye, as she had all along, refused to believe that "that crazy woman," that inhuman monster, Rae, gave birth to her.  Both physically and emotionally, Skye couldn't distance herself from the situation fast enough.  But Christopher infused each of Skye's protests with subtle undertainty that made it clear Skye was finally beginning to see that this could be real.
Not that she'd admit that to Rae.  When Mom came calling to tell her the whole story, Christopher drew a line in the sand.  A steely Skye didn't want Rae to know she was starting to believe her story.  And yet, from the look in Christopher's eyes, you could see a softening.  Maybe Skye wouldn't acknowledge Rae as her mother, but she might concede Rae isn't a total nut.  (Linda Dano also was wonderful in these scenes.)
When Adam finally arrived, Christopher imbued Skye with a childlike quality as she talked a mile a minute to convince Daddy to take her home, desperate to stop Adam from confirming her worst fear.
When he came out with the truth, the look on Christopher's face said it all: Skye had been stripped of the last bit of security she had, and she was truly crushed.  Christopher's fine performance made Skye so
human.  Finally, like mother, like daughter. * - TRAVIS KINSEY

Thank you, ABC Daytime, for making Skye Chandler a Quartermaine.  As much as I enjoyed Skye on ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE, she fits in perfectly with those wacky Qs on GENERAL HOSPITAL.  Robin Christopher is doing a marvelous job portraying Skye as devious, yet vulnerable.  And it is wonderful to see Stuart Damon [Alan], Leslie Charleson [Monica] and the rest of the Qs back on the front-burner.  My only regret abut Skye's move from Llanview to Port Charles is that Skye and Rae won't share as many scenes.  Christopher and Linda Dano [Rae] make an excellent team; their emotional scenes have moved me to tears.  Here's hoping that Rae visits Port Charles again - and soon.

Thank you for your interview with GENERAL HOSPITAL'S Robin Christopher [Skye] in the 1/29 issue.  I have been a fan of the actress since her days on ANOTHER WORLD [as Lorna], and I was more than pleased to see her reprise her role as Skye Chandler.  Whiel her work was good during her returns to ONE LIFE TO LIVE and ALL MY CHILDREN, I think that she has really hit her stride on GH.  I was hesitant when I heard that Skye would be Alan Quartermaine's daughter, but the storyline has started to click.  I now actually make the time for GH every day based on this plot - and the development of the Jax/Skye relationship.  I'm glad to have Christopher, and the GH that I know, back.

One GH viewer is happy to finally see some family togetherness. "A.J. and Skye are the two ugly ducklings of the Quartermaine household," a fan writes via E-mail. "These two have so many issues, but somehow they find comfort in supporting and trusting each other. They are also a lot alike. I hope that they can both finally find love with a companion and grow as people. I want to see the Quartermaines united and standing strong, not apart."

In 1988, ALL MY CHILDREN co-stars Robin Christopher (Skye) and Lauren Holly (ex-Julie) were party-going pals.  Now, Christopher has transferred Skye to GENERAL HOSPITAL, and the former Mrs. Jim Carrey is a rising movie star.

Soap-hopper Robin Christopher (Skye, GH) hoped her character might return to the other shows on occasion.
