June's 1960 VW Beetle Restoration
In Memory
This website is dedicated to Dan Barrett and Jason Reese, 2 friends who lost their lives
Oct.23,1999 when they were hit head on by a drunk driver with a suspended
drivers license in Dan's 1971 VW Beetle near Lincoln NE. Inital news reports said, that the driver was on the wrong side of the median in their lane, with no headlights at 5:30 AM when the accident occurred. Dan loved his little VW and both he and Jason embraced life and all it had to offer.
Oct.23,2001: plea bargined down to a virtual slap on the wrist!
I am just a person who loves VW's. I have owned 5 now, (all bugs) but, this is the first one I have redone. I have had a '64, '66, '68, '70 but not necessarily in that order. I sold my '68 in 1977 and have wanted another one ever since. I acquired my 1960 bug in Feb of 1999. Restoration began in June of 1999. It has turned out to be much more than a simple paint job that was indicated after we started taking the car apart. Lots of things needed to be replaced or fixed. I belong to the Omaha Volkswagen Club. We also raise horses and love to flyfish. Check out our other sites too while you are here.
