Great site! I own 2 Feathers. Number 1 is a 12'-6" open runabout. Don't know the models's name, I have never seen another like it. It is a 1954 boat. Number 2 is a 1953 14'-6" twin cockpit runabout that I believe is a Vagabond. The vagabond has a nice M rk55A on it, the little boat is used as a test bed for all kinds of motors. My favorite motor on it is a Mark25, boy-o-boy does it run sweet! Keep up the good work. How about some new pictures? Thanks, Alan.

Yes, fiberglass, but cool looking tailfins. Still need further work. Any suggestio s/information is appreciated. I'm guessing mine is a '55 model, as it is mated with a 25HP Evinrude of the same year.

I'm most interested in learning more about restoring it to a good, usable degree. (See my post to the forum today, 7/31 for more info on this boat). Your photo gallery shows a real nice example of an identical boat undergoing restoration, and I'd like to converse further w/the owner. Could you forward my e-mail address to him, or give me his? It was recently found sunken and my coworker tracked down the previous owner who then gave him the boat. I would appreciate any help you could give me to figure out what year model I have. I would first like to say that I think you've done a great job on your web page. I don't know the first thing about Feather Craft boats but I did just happen to buy my first boat ever and it happens to be a feather craft. The guy I bought it from told me t was a 1957. It is 12ft. with a 4ft.width, 2 bench seats and a small bench up front. It is more of a row boat than a pleasure/cruise boat like yours, although it is rated for a 15 horse according to the plate. What I would like to know is when these boat were made, if this guy was right it is from 1957, and any tips you could possibly give me on restoring this boat. It is going to need alot of TLC but I am willing to try. thanks for any help you can give me. Dan

Hello. I visited your page about a year ago. I still have my 1948 14' feathercraft, and am in the process of refurbishment. It won't be exactly in origional condition when I am through but should be intresting enough. So far I have resurfaced the deck and str p behind the forward cockpit in early chris craft style mahonagy stripping and have sandwiched the transom on each side with 1" mahonagy to facilitate the merccruser outdrive that is next to be installed. The powerplant will cause alot of pureists to turn in discust but not many of us old fools can own a boat that was built the same year we were. Will send pic's if intrested. Have you heard of any source for drawings (Lofting, or sections) of the feathercraft? Thanks, Jim Young

Great site! I bought what appears to be a 1960 Ski-Bo with an excellent hull. I plan on putting seats and winshield on this week. I'd like to sell or trade for one of the "barrel-back" styles. Any known for sale in the Southeast? I'll send pictures of mine when done.

Every summer as a young child my family would rent a Camp on Panther Lake, A small private lake about 5 miles North of Lake Onieda. My dad had around Blue 1950 to 1955 Feather Craft, with at 40hp Evenrude I guess it to be a Hawk of some sort. The memori s of a Childhood. My father taking me to " far side of the Lake " - ( around 1 mile ) to the lakefront store. Hime taking me fishing onthe Feather Craft The smell of gas brings back to 1965, and being 4 years old and watching my father fill the red rem te gas tanks. How I would fingth with my sister to see how would help Dad tie up the boat. Just sitting in the boat tied to the dock and hearing the waster lap against the sides of the hull. I learned how to waterski behind the Feather Craft, I was about 6 years old and got up on my first pull. What a great time ! To all who own a Feather Craft ( any boat for that matter ) I wish your children to have the sweet memories of childhood that I was blessed with. Enjoy Scott

Great site, glad it exisits. Anyone heard of a Canadian built aluminum boat company called Aeroliner? They built a line of aluminum boats out of Winnipeg, Manitoba during the '50's during the Cold War as the company used to build aircraft fusalage during WWII. Their designs comprised a line of boats from car tops to runabouts that had a simgle welded seam down the middle of the boat.

Aluminum boats rule! well, thats my opinion. Great site .I didn't think anyone even tought about old aluminum hulls before I found this site. Bought an old "67" 19' crestliner aluminum cabin boat at the end 98 season. The boat is excellent however the motor (68 85hp evinrude electric shift) slipped into retirement while cruising one day and has since been stripped from the boat and left for scrap .I will be repowering the boat soon and probably with a new 4 stroke outboard .I know the newer outboard won't help the classic look of boat but i can't see restoring a gas guzzling- exhaust in your face outboard just for the classic look. Any toughts anyone?

I am also into classic boats and motors. I rebuild and restore old outboards, been at it for about 30 years, my pets are the mid 50s Mercs. I have a lot of them and also a lot of used parts. I also have a 1956 14' feather craft that was converted to an inboard, kind of an interesting boat, had a 283 chev. V 8 in it, I am rebuilding the whole boat as it left a bit to be desired as for the mechanics and engineering of the drive train. I also have a 1956 Crestliner 12' Commander 2 cockpit totally restored with a Mark 58 Merc. runs about 40 M.P.H. If you can hang on to her. I also have a 1963 Power Cat 18 ft. fiberglass 3 point hydro that set the 1963 outboard 1/4 mile speed record at Long Beach marine stadium in california of 95.06 M.P.H. 12.00 Secs. I also have the original documentation, This boat is powered by two 1963 Merc. 1000s with Super Speedmaster lower units counter rotation, with Parker tower housings. It has a matching tandem axel trailer to go with it. It is in good running condition and is for SALE. Enjoy your web page, it is fun to compare ideas and talk to other boating enthusiasts.

Great site and pictures. I have a 1960 14' aluminum Wolverine Wagemaker runabout that has had the paint stripped from the deck and sides, and the windshield removed for fishing. Looks like it had a turquoise over an original red because the dash and sea backs are a faded/weathered red now. It's a great boat and I'd like to repaint it the original color. Anyone else have one or know what color/paint code, etc. to use? Good boating, and thanks!

This is a GREAT site. You're to be commended. I was looking for some connection (ANY connection!!!) to aluminium /Feather Craft boat fans. This has been a Help. THANK YOU. Also, if anyone is interested, we are selling a Feather Craft in an estate auction. The boat has been in storage of one sort and another for YEARS! Consequently, it is in EXCELLLENT condition. In addition, it has its original seat cushions (good condition), awning (SUPERIOR condition - looks almost new), outboard motor (a Johnshon) and other smaller "attachments" (i.e., light, ladder, etc.) We're not yet exactly sure what year (we're researching that now); however, our best collective family guess at this point is late 40's early 50's. If you're at all interested (or know anyone that is), the estate auction is in Austin, Texas (1811 Lightsey Road - Just off South Lamar - in South Austin) on October 24, 1998, starting at 10:00 am. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Enjoyed finding your interest in the Feathercraft boats; I currently have a fourteen foot '57 in very good condition for its age and earlier had another runabout type that I then felt was "too small" at twelve feet and I now regret selling it. My boat came to me from the original owner's estate; it has its second engine on it, a "little-used" '62 Chrysler rated at 55 hp. Originally it had a 35 hp Johnson, I believe. Occasionally I do come across Feathercraft boats for sale; about one a year hereabouts. Generally they are not "real original" anymore, and much the worse for wear, but I go to check them all out. About two years ago I came across a very nice 14 foot runabout; it sold for $1500 to a "collector". Last year I found a "restorable" 16 foot boat of about '60 vintage, available in the classifieds for $1500, too - until a friend of the owner made a "persu sive, private exchange" and got it. Recently, I found another one - "sold", too. For the "sum of $350". Yet, the former owner said: "It was in rough shape..." so I didn't miss much, I'd guess. Anyhow? Well, there you have some "news" from another Feathercraft boat fancier. "Keep up the good work!" Best regards, Glenn Ollila

After seeing your web site I recognized a classic feathercraft about to be sent to the scrapper and grabbed it up. It is 12'4" long with a 57" beam and twin cockpit. It is in good condition and does have doors on gloveboxes with FC logos. There are FC dec ls on each side of the bow and the ID sticker (painted over) under the dash. The boat was painted over with an OD paint which I am removing. Please provide any info on this boat that would assist in restoration I've never seen another boat of this type in this area. Checking out geocities, and was drawn right away to your site. I love it. I grew up in Western Co. fishing on the Grand Mesa. Small fishing boats. I inherited my fathers 30's something Evinrude. Very simple, yet functional motor. I was told it was l ss than 1hp but am unsure. Love the site, and plan to return soon. Keep up the good work.

I am looking for information on a '55 / '56 Evinrude 5.5hp "fisherman" model outboard that I found in the basement of a house I purchased. I would like to know how much something like this is worth and where I might be able to find parts for the old gal. She needs to have the old gas residue cleaned out but she pulls easy. Sure would like to hear her run again.

I am only twenty - two years old and when I purchased my boat for fifty dollars I was just going to fish in it, but my father has led me to think that it is more than just a hunk of aluminum. Now that I have stumbled across this website I am beginning to hink that he is right. I would be interested in finding out more about my boat, which I think is a "Deluxe Run-About". I am going to attempt to restore it and I would be looking for a windshield and a couple of lights, other then that it is in great shap . The aluminum actually has a interesting patina to it. The front of the boat is a bronze or gold color and it slowly changes to a shade of silver. It is a work of art. I also acquired a 3-horse Evinrude with it, I need to give the former owner another $100 if it works and I want to know if it is worth it. Any information on tricks to fix it or people to contact with parts would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work. It is a excellent site.
