This is the approach to Bonny Eagle Dam, the river is class 3 or 4 rapids, depending on the time of year, and very dangerous, even to the experienced canoer or rafter. There is a portage that really should be taken on the right by the power station as there is a 7 foot drop in the summer and fall.

If you choose to attempt the waters below the drop, this is what you are in for...it is ONLY doable in the "Sprinter". Many have tried this section and failed. I strongly recommend either a Kayak or a Raft, never a canoe!

This is the "narrows", which marks the end of any major whitewater on the Saco River. Once through here, you will in the thick of the dam at West Buxton, where you must portage to the left, just before the dam. This portage brings you out onto a main street and is about 75 yards in length.
