What is the IGTA?
The IGTA is a small UK based transgender
civil and human rights organisation. Our work is focused
on transgendered people who live in difficult social,
political and economic environments. It aims to to
encourage local empowerment through local groups with the
support of international networks. IGTA functions in
liason with Amnesty International (AI), the International
Lesbian and Gay Association (IGLA) and others. When
appropriate, and funds allow, direct assistance has been
offered by IGTA overseas missions. The Director of IGTA,
Phaedra Kelly, has also visited several countries on fact
finding and networking visits.

We
need your help
Tto
help us draw the attention of people all over the world to
regimes
who
will not give basic human or civil rights to transgender
women
and men. In many of these regimes trans girls become trapped as
sex
workers, sometimes controlled by local police who hold the threat
of prison, torture and in
some
countries even death over them.

IGTA should
