After a decade of intense and constructive cooperation, Brass Band Midden Brabant, Belgium, and its conductor Benny Wiame have come to an amicable agreement to follow separate paths. BBMB aims to continue in the direction it followed under Benny, and is therefore looking for:

A CONDUCTOR (M/F)

What can we offer:

- A Championship-section band, with a rich history and a clutch of awards (including several Belgian championship titles)

- A complete and motivated band, consisting of some very fine amateur players, conservatoire students and professional musicians

- A dynamic board to aid in administrative and technical matters

- A pleasant working environment

What are we looking for?:

- A conductor with an in-depth knowledge of the Brass Band world, who can back up this knowledge with experience and artistic mastery

- A conductor who can commit to an intense rehearsal schedule in the lead-up to the national Brass Band contest in December, who is also able to prepare five concerts during the course of the year

- A conductor who doesn't neglect the social dimension of the band, giving young, talented players the opportunity to develop and grow into the band and allowing soloists from within the band to perform with the band.

- Someone who is available on Wednesday evenings, starting as soon as possible, to lead the weekly rehearsals in Zaventem.

Wat verwachten wij:

- een dirigent die de Brass Band-wereld zeer goed kent, en die kan bogen op zowel artistiek meesterschap als ervaring

- een dirigent die bereid is om in de voorbereiding op het Belgische kampioenschap tot het uiterste te gaan, en die tegelijkertijd voldoende aandacht weet te schenken aan een 5 tal concerten die plaatshebben buiten deze voorbereiding op het kampioenschap.

- Een dirigent die de sociale factor van dee amateurmuziek niet onderkent, en die aan jonge getalenteerde musici van de band de kans geeft om te groeien en zich te profileren als solist.

- Een dirigent die met onmiddellijke ingangg kan beginnen met de wekelijkse repetitie op woensdagavond in Zaventem

The 16th of November 2003, Brass Band Midden-Brabant played two concerts featuring the American trumpet virtuoso Allen Vizzutti.

In the morning Brass Band Midden-Brabant played an educational concert in front of teachers and students from the Conservatory in Oostende.

The main purpose of the concert was to introduce the big family of brass instruments to the younger students of the Conservatory. And what an introduction they received!! They heard one of the world's biggest trumpet virtuoso's together with one Belgium's top brass bands, so we can only guess that the brass class of the Conservatory in Oostende will be packed next year with new students...

In the evening, the concert hall of the Royal Conservatory of Brussels was packed to see and hear Brass Band Midden-Brabant perform a mix of entertainment pieces, the test pieces for the upcoming Belgian National Brass Band Championships, and of course for the world-famous Allen Vizzutti.

After the first opening pieces by BBMB, Benny Wiame joined Allen Vizzutti on piccolo trumpet to play the Concerto for two trumpets by Antonio Vivaldi, specially arranged for the occasion by Kevin Houben, a young & talented musician/conductor/arranger who has just recently joined the band.

From the very start it was clear that Mr. Vizzutti was in top form and this was going to be an evening to remember.

Allen Vizzutti then went on to perform the Trumpet Concerto by Harry James and after the break his own composition, "The Rising Sun". The performance was breathtaking: totally different musical styles, played effortless and with a mastery that neared perfection on different instruments (piccolo trumpet, flugel horn, Bb trumpet). The audience went wild and Allen Vizzutti thanked the public with three spectacular encores.
