History of TERRA.

Feder Martin studied music and flute at school, but it wasn't until he was twelve that he began to play drums and be really interested in music. A year or two later he first had the opportunity to play a Hammond organ, and was impressed by its sound and the open promises of the new technologies.

He studied Classical guitar, and at the age of seventeen he concentrates on bass guitar, which was his main instrument for the following years. The year before he had discovered "Close To The Edge" and was very impressed by Yes music and Chris Squire style of playing.

This was the time of his firsts bands, like the progressive Couse Coiller with piano, flute and spanish and electric guitars, formed with some mates at High School.

He attends simultaneously University and studying in Federico Chueca School of Music and begins to work with synthesizers, which was not appreciated at the School. There, he has the opportunity to study with Armando Lorente, percussionist of ONE (Spanish National Symphonic Orchestra), who also performs in Atlas, a Jazz band with two percussionists. This conduces Feder likes closer to Jazz harmony  and turnarounds than to the learned rigid classical structures. A year afterwards he joints 'La Factoría', a jazz-rock oriented private school directed by guitarist Kelly Freire, where he studies with bass players Víctor Merlo and Carlos Vazquez "Tibu".

By this time he begins investigation in applying computers to music, and gives more importance to synths. He also plays in a rock band just for the fun of it and to make and extra living.

After two years of freelance work he rejoins 'La Factoría', and studies with Gunny, bassist of the famous spanish progressive band Asfalto, while he plays the role of monitor in the courses jam sessions.

In 1.990 he obtains a degree in "Music Technology" and receives offers of prestigious studios such as A.D.V. and Fairlight (Nacho Cano, from Mecano, project studio) to work as sound engineer. He was also offered some sessions as bassist for first line pop and rock bands.

Since that time he also concentrates in composing and build up his own project studio, Aye Sound Studios.

After some time without relation with music, due to familiar and professional circumstances, in 1.996 he gives birth to "The Gate Of The Stars", based on Arthur C. Clarke's "2.001. A Space Odyssey" and in 1.997 he presented "Terra Incognita", while working in the still unfinished "Stories From The Full Moons Times".

In the three cases we are considering some instrumental music as near as Electronics Music as to Progressive Rock or New Age Music, in all three a conceptual topic is proposed.

In contrast to the eastern environments and ancient civilizations in "Terra Incognita", "The Gate Of The Stars", expresses the nearest TERRA 01:04:09 approximation to the synthetic and ambient sounds.
