I have long been in love with nature. The trees, waters, fields, azure sky, and everything associated with them. Since I have such a great fondness for the outdoors, I go camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, backpacking, canoeing, rock climbing, sight-seeing, and anyhting else I can do with nature. To make arrangements for these such activities and to make them more frequent I have been a member of the Boy Scouts for a long time. In fact I have just earned my Eagle Scout rank, the highest award a Scout can get. This allows me to do all the stuff I like in the outdoors without having to neccessarily plan it myself. Such big trips I've taken with the Scouts are: a week of summer camp at Many Point Scout Reservation for the last eight years, sleeping in a snow shelter in freezing weather, backpacking along the Superior Hiking Trail, and canoeing and camping in the Boundary Water Canoe Area Wilderness. But not all I do in the outdoors is with the Boy Scouts. I live on the Rum River, a great canoeing and fishing river. I often get out my family's canoe and go fishing on the river for smallmouth bass and northern pike. The Rum River is a great river for bass and northerns. I have also gone camping locally since I don't live in any kind of city or town where there are no woods to do so in. Our house has a 1/4 mile long driveway and a wooded plot of land with it. I have raised and tended an orchard of cherry, pear, and apple trees on our land. Besides local stuff I often go musky fishing with my friends. Muskies are the most challenging and vicious freshwater gamefish and provide much enjoyment when fishing for them. I also go up to Canada in the summer to fish musky in Ontario's lakes. I hunt deer in Minnesota by rifle and bow and hunt all sorts of small game and birds. Until recently I had also been trapping animals for furs. Once in a while I will go rock climbing at an indoor place in the Twin Cities or to Interstate Park to free-hand climb the rock walls there. In the future I would like to go backpacking in and around Denali in Alaska with a significant other.
