About Me

My name is Craig S. McVey and I went to colllege for Civil Engineering at West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WV Tech as many of us like to call it). It is located in Montgomery, West Virginia; Montgomery is 30 minutes east of Charleston on Rt 61. I began attending college in the Spring of 1994 part-time. I was a senior in high school during this time so I could not attend full-time. However, I began attending full time in the Fall of 1994. During my time at Tech I have worked at many different places with varying positions including: Supervisor at Winterplace Ski Resort, Field Inspector at WV Division of Highways, Editor of WV Tech's weekly newspaper, and also alot computer work on the side.

In my spare time I enjoy working on my car, building computer systems, designing web pages, going to car shows, rock climbing, skiing, hunting, fishing, camping, and there are probably a few other things that I have failed to mention.

My girlfriend's name is Lisa Marie Mays. We have been dating since April 7, 1999, we met each other at a club in Huntington. Here's the story: I was working on my car stereo and just finished installing my head unit and cd-changer. I decided I would call one of my friends from school, Jason Billups, to tell him that I just had finished installing the stereo. As it turns out, he was going to another one of our friends' houses, Jarrod Jordan. He told me that I ought to come up and hang out with them for a while. Even though it was 11:00 pm I decided I would drive to Huntington, to hang out for a while, since I didn't have anything else to do. When I arrived, Jarrod was outside talking to 3 girls and I heard him tell them to "meet us down there." Everyone was going to go to one of the many clubs in Huntington. When we got there I went up to the bar and ordered a Bud Light and came back to sit down with everyone. There were two girls standing right next to us dancing, these were the same girls that Jarrod had told to meet us. One of the girls turns around to me and asks, "Who the hell are you?" She said it in such a way that I knew she was playing around a little bit. Well we began talking and one thing led to another and we ended up dating. I really enjoy being with her because she is interested in a lot of the things that I am interested in; of course, she's not interested at all in rock climbing but at least she is somewhat interested in the customization of cars and trucks. As a matter of a fact we just bought a 2000 Pontiac Sunfire and she has already put wheels and a few other accessories on it. She even won 3rd place in one of the car shows we went to. This brings me to my next topic which would be my car and Vaperz Custom Car Club.

Vaperz CC is a car club based in Huntington, West Virginia with an associate branch in Indiana; we are now an official member of the "Lowrider Magazine Club Registery". We are a close group of friends with a common interest, which would be the customization of our cars and car stereo, who share resources and help each other along with the community. We have some of the best looking "rides" in the area and we are always recruiting new members. Most of the current members are either in college, mainly Marshall University, or have already graduated. Myself and the president, Jason Billups, attended WV Tech as Civil Engineering students; Jason graduated in December of 1999 and I graduated in May 2000. Jason is the reason that I began working on my car, I have been interested in customizing cars and trucks for a long time but for some reason I have never really worked on my own. Then, during the Fall semester of 1998 Jason asked me if I wanted to go to a car show in Charlotte, North Carolina (Booger Bash) so I said absolutely. We got everything together and a group of us went. That is when it all really began for me. After we went to that show I decided to start working on my car.

Jason and I were driving down the road one day in my car and he turned around and said that I could put 8-10's in the hatch. After he explained to me how in the hell we could fit 8-10's in the hatch I decided to do it. First, I bought 8-10" SSB-10 Earthquake subs. Then, a Pioneer KEH-P7800 Cassette deck, a Pioneer CDX-P5000 50-Disc CD-Changer, an Earthquake 200dhc Digital Amp, 2-1.5 farad capacitors and an extra battery. Then I bought all the materials to build the box and the amp-rack. After some careful planning and a whole lot of work we finished the installation of the stereo system. After some tweaking here and there it sounded great. Somewhere along the way I decided I wanted to work on the exterior of the car. I talked to my dad about what all I would like to do to the car and he decided he would help me out with it. I think he was just as excited as I was about it, he just didn't show it as much. We went through a few disagreements about the car here and there but with some mediating from my girlfriend everything was straightened out. My dad and I bought a VIS Racing ground-fx kit and rear double spoiler, a shaved door handle kit, all new molding and weatherstripping, Dupont Purple Chromalusion paint, 18" Eagle Alloy rims and tires, along with a few other odds and ends. Then we had to find someone to do all the body work and paint. We were going to have Dave Johnston do it, but things didn't work out, so we had Danny Skaggs of Danny's Auto Body & Repair in Hico, WV work on it. My car is now finished and if you go to "MY CAR" page you can see pictures of it. So far they are the only pictures that I have, when the weather clears up and the sun comes out I will take more and add them to the site. Also, in some of the pictures on the site the hood is open a little bit, I forgot to shut it before I started taking pictures. Sorry.

Thank you for visiting my site,
