Steve's Marine Disaster Pages

A rather sad recent case, was the loss of the bulkcarrier "FLARE", which simply seemed to break up in the Cabot Strait. As long as crews and their ships are worked so hard, these sorts of losses will continue to happen.

One of the interesting comments of the survivors of the "FLARE" was at one point those on the bridge could see the bow of a vessel coming towards them through the weather and they took heart at their potential rescue, at least until they saw the name "FLARE" and realized that their own bow had broken off and was floating past them !
My thanks to Mark Chatham of Halifax, Nova Scotia for that last little gem.
