The M.T. "VICUNA" Page
At about 19:30 hrs on 15th november 2004, the VICUNA, a Chilean flagged tanker, exploded in the port of Paranagua, Brazil, whilst discharging a cargo of methanol. Of the crew of 28, 24 survived, 4 did not. As a result of the explosion (which blew parts of the ship around the whole terminal) there was considerable pollution, as the booms in the photos above illustrate
