Nikaido's Famous Phrases: ------------>
The Emotional Complexity of Nozomu Nikaido

Featuring the most disliked character at Maison Ikkoku!

In making this page, I tried thinking of the good aspects of Nikaido's personality and realized that he had relatively few. Instead, his negative traits shone through, and I got frustrated with him and the idea of dedicating something to him. But, I decided to go along with my plan anyway...

Why Nikaido really isn't so bad...

•He's normal, he's the everyman. Imagine coming into Ikkoku and seeing all these bizarre things going on. Sure, he's dense, but could you make heads or tails of Godai and Kyoko's "relationship" if you'd just met them?
•He's the only one that actively tries to find out about Yotsuya's job.
•He's an excellent carpenter.

I find it hard to believe those are his only redeeming qualities, but try as I might, I can't think of anymore.

Why most people can't stand him...

•He causes problems, but not in the same way that Akemi, Yotsuya and Mrs. Ichinose do. Nikaido causes problems for the fans. He comes into the series, when all the other characters are well-established and loved, and all of a sudden this new guy shows up, and not only does he play an integral part of the next two storylines, but he's not exactly the most charming person you'd want to meet, let alone be forced to live with.
•He's attracted to Kyoko and Kozue.
•He's stuck up.
•He's a smartass.
•He's a smoker, and even though most of the tenants are, Nikaido is the worst of the lot, he smokes like a chimney!
•He's extremely nosey.
•He sprayed soda on Kyoko.
•He's spoiled.
•He's two-faced.
•He's honest to a fault.
•He's vengeful.
•Alright, he's basically evil.

Even though his bad personality traits far outweigh his good ones, thats okay. It just means he's got a distinct personality. But I don't think you could really call this a fan club anymore, so if you're one of the millions of fans who are merely willing to respect the fact that Nikaido lives at Maison Ikkoku then post one of these, Nikaido's alright with me! on your site, and let me know, I'll give you a link here saying you're a member.
