Rei is the pilot of Evangelion Unit 00, the first Eva pilot. She is remarkably silent and taciturn, seemingly very dedicated to her job. The only person she is close with is NERV Commander Ikari Gendou, Shinji's father.

I've been a Rei fan before I so much as watched a single Evangelion episode. Must be that blue hair, or that expressionless look. Anyway I disagree with people who claim Rei to be just a pretty doll. She's simply learning what it is to feel, to have "another's touch, another's respect". And if that's not human, what is?

I know there's a Rei vs Asuka (or Asuka vs Rei) battle going on out there, but I'd rather not be in it. My views on this you can read here.
