VI. Armament:
Hand Held Weapons:
- 1 x Automatic Rail Cannon: This weapon mounted in the mecha right
hand usually resembles a veritech gunpod, but contains a rail canon as opposed
to normal cannon. The cannon fires 100 gram shell at approx. 37 kps to a
distance of
4 km with excellent accuracy. The weapon
can fire at a rate of up to 120 rounds per minute with a 60 round clip. Most of the time the mecha carried at least one spare clip
behind the left arm shield. The weapon can be mounted on the back when not
use.
Melee Weapon:
- 2 x .85 MW projectable tachyon scythes: The two scythe
or sickle-like appendages can project from their housing behind the
shoulders with a chain like cable attached to each. .The blades can be fired
like a projectile, or wielded as a hand held weapon. The blades of the
scythe are surrounded by a tachyon field similar to those found on Terran
tachyon sabers. Each scythe is estimated to have approximately 60
meters of chain and enough power to last for 120 seconds before needing to
be recharged.
- 2 x .15 MW projectable tachyon spikes: Each foot of the
Gilgamesh I contains a hidden tachyon spike. The spike functions in a
similar manner to the scythe and is also attached to a long chain allowing
the Gilgamesh I to grapple enemy mecha making them easy prey for the scythes
or their claws. Each spike has enough energy for 60 seconds of continuous
use before needing to be recharged.
Missiles:
- 2 x Hades missile launchers: Each forearm contains a
mini-missile launcher loaded with the
MPZM-3 Hades multi-purpose
mini-missile. These missiles, similar in concept to the Terran Dagger
are designed to be used in concentrated swarms. When not in use, the launcher
is concealed behind armor plating. The launcher assembly rises out of
the arm near the elbow when firing allowing all missiles to be fired in
needed. Each launcher holds 16 missiles ready to fire for a total of
32 missiles.
VII. Armor:
The armor of the Gilgamesh Type I is composed of an advanced alloy composed
of unknown metals. Whatever the metal, it stops all small arms and heavy
infantry weapons fire, as well as provided good resistance to light
mecha-mounted weaponry, such as the Zentraedi 22.3mm HE autocannon round, and
fair resistance to medium mecha-mounted weaponry, such as the Valkyrie's 55mm
APFSDS round.
The Gilgamesh Type I provided full protection from nuclear, biological, and
chemical hazards, using a sealed cockpit environment. The internal consumables
supplies could provide breathable atmosphere for four days maximum.
VIII. Development:
If there was one mecha that any pilot feared during the 4th Robotech War, it
was the Gilgamesh Type I.
