The Mystery Behind Bowbiters...

What are they?

Bowbiters are the little plastic novelty items that go on your shoes.

What do they do?

Simply put, they help keep your shoelaces from coming untied.

What do they look like?

How do they work?

The laces are fed through holes on the base of the bowbiter. When the top of the bowbiter

is pulled upwards, it clicks into place leaving an open gap between the top and the bottom.

A bow is then tied, with the center (knot) inside the open area. When the top is snapped

down, pressure is placed on the knot. This keeps the knot tight therefore preventing the

shoelaces from becoming untied.
