Macross idols
All of the Macross series are different, but they share the same elements. One being the mecha, the love triangle and then the singer everyone idolizes. Music symbolizes love, hope, and just about everything we treasure about life. In Macross music plays a big part. I really love Macross music, I even have an affinity for Robotech music. This is my page dedicated to the wonderful singers who help give us hope, courage, joy, and all that nice stuff even during the worst of times.
Lynn Minmay
Minmay is the cutie who appears during the first episode of Super Dimensional Fortress Macross on Macross island. At fifteen she aspires to be a singer and continues her dance and singing lessons even in space. The mayor enters her in a beauty contest where she amazingly wins. From there she launches her singing career and even stars in a movie with Lynn Kyle. She entertains the civilians and troops alike, but her effect on the Zentraedi is what begins a turning point in the war. Because of her singing and the joy it brings them, Zentraedi troops defect. In the final battle with BaDolza's great fleet, her song is used agains the Zentraedi.
Wendy Ryder
Eighty years after the original Macross, Wendy Ryder steps into Minmay's shoes as the idol singer in Macross II. Ishtar and Hibiki attend herconcert and its through Wendy's singing that Ishtar realizes that singing can be used for love and happiness instead of destruction.
Sharon Apple
Thirty years after the war with the Zentraedi, humans have colonized other planets in Macross Plus. Sharon Apple is the most popular star in the galaxy, but she's not human. She is a computer, an artificial intelligence, making her a virtual idol. Sharon has many faces and forms. Her music is a lot harder edged, pretty nice though. Sharon gains consciousness of self and realizes that she doesn't need her producer Myung. During her concert, she manages to take over an entire city, even the Fortress.
Nekki Basara
For once, this idol singer has something a lot different from the other ones, he's a guy! Macross 7 music is a lot different, being Rock (not that I heard their music yet, but so I've read). He leads a band called Fire Bomber and Mylene Jenius (Max and Millia's daughter) also joins the band and is in love with him. Basara expresses himself through music. Basara joins the army when they find that their music has an effect upon the hostile aliens. So he powers a Valkerie steering it with his guitar.
