Featuring characters created by Hiroki Hayashi and Masaki

Less outright farce than last episode. Some of the humor may be
TOO sneaky; I'm interested in feedback on that.
As usual, watch out for the killer lime.

"Yes, it's true! I tried to kill my fiance's child by another
woman!"

In Youshou's office, Washuu, Tenchi, and Kiyone watched a hologram
of Lady Fuyuno confess. The knives held to her throat by various
children's toys spoiled the effect somewhat. The terrified
prisoner disappeared from the conical holographic field emitted
by the small wooden box, to be replaced by the visage of Yuzuha.
A number of the newly-arrived fiancee corps watched from the door.
Youshou himself was nowhere to be seen.

"Will you return the Lady Fuyuno to stand trial?" asked Kiyone.

"No, you can't have her back!" Yuzuha snarled. "She's my
plaything!"

"Under what circumstances," persisted Kiyone, "did Lady Fuyuno
enter your realm? Was it voluntary or involuntary?"

"That red-haired witch cut most of my portals," replied
Yuzuha, pointing at Washuu. "So my new guest could only enter my
realm _because of_ her murderous assault on my daughter!" Yuzuha
smirked, then turned toward the door and announced, "You heard
right, girls: I had Prince Tenchi's love child!"

A sudden babble erupted from the doorway. A number of the
young ladies darted off, speaking rapidly into their jewelry.

"I never!" sputtered Tenchi. Kiyone nodded indignantly. Washuu
just snickered.

Yuzuha turned back glared at the three. "Now, what are you doing
to protect my daughter?"

Kiyone snorted. "Oh, like you're a model of motherly love."

Tenchi, however, looked over at Washuu. "We do need to do
something, Washuu-chan. Mayuka is just a little baby; she can't
defend herself."

Washuu thought for a moment, then nodded. She spoke to Yuzuha.
"I will set up my own defenses, but, in addition, I will allow you
to activate one or two of Mayuka's natural defenses."

Yuzuha looked very amused for a moment, but agreed.

Meanwhile, in the house, Teruzi and Shiria kept watch while Pikko
tried to enter Washuu's lab. "Are you sure we should leave Menori
out there by herself? She's been receiving a lot of jealous
glares lately."

"She'd be more unhappy with us," Shiria replied. "We'd make her
stop playing while we're in there."

"Got it," Pikko announced with satisfaction. The doorway under
the stairs opened to her probing. The three walked in. "Washuu
will know we've been here; there's no way I can find and disable
all her logs and monitors."

"That's okay; we just want to find out if she's responsible for
yesterday's attack."

"I already told you, Kiyone saw Washuu press a button to start
the attack. Kiyone thinks it's a plan to scare most of us
newcomer fiancees off. She also thinks it's a stupid plan."

"Your talents, my dear Teruzi, are not evidence," replied Pikko.
"Especially when you can't read Washuu herself."

The three prowled through Washuu's lab together. Pikko and Shiria
goggled at much of what they saw.

"Show-off," Pikko muttered.

"You and I are just not in her league, Pikko," Shiria said
tiredly.

"Wait; look at this! No smirfiends, but..." Teruzi pointed to a
glass-walled circular pit where a dozen newly-grown androids were
struggling to stand. Large beige and brown fur-covered ursinoid
shapes, with large fangs and claws and exaggerated male
attributes, shook themselves and grunted at each other. Each wore
only a red collar.

Shiria started to laugh. "Washuu doesn't like to repeat herself,
I see."

Pikko smiled. "I think we should add a custom touch of our own.
Don't you think Washuu ought to sign her work?"

Later, outside the house, a few of the new fiancees threw
tantrums.

"I'm supposed to marry this creep who had a love child with the
Dark?" screamed the redheaded Asuka, stomping her feet.
"No way! I'm leaving! What about you, wonder girl?"

"Since I was ordered to marry him, I will do it," replied Rei,
tonelessly.

Once more, Aeka, Sasami, Ryouko, and Tenchi confronted giant
projections of Funaho and Misaki.

"Rumors are spreading all over Jurai," announced Funaho. "We
can't suppress the news."

"I expect it to show up on JNN any minute now," added Misaki
with a grin. Behind the two queens, a large flat screen lit up
with a large grainy photo of Yuzuha, accompanied by smaller
pictures of Mayuka and Tenchi, and a headline in 40-point Juraian.
Handy hyperlinks to background on Tenchi showed on one side, with
a real-time count of his currently active fiancees. Other links
offered opportunities to place bets on the final number of wives,
or to vote in a poll for your favorite fiancee.

"Tenchi, our options are narrowing. Either you marry Yuzuha (and
this can be in name only, of course), or Mayuka will be forever
branded as illegitimate."

The girls looked worriedly at Tenchi. He looked back. "What
choice do I have? And," he added with a touch of bitterness,
"what's one more _now_? I won't even get all their names straight
before the wedding, let alone get to know them."

Aeka offered placatingly, "We have already had six depart. Five
because of yesterday's attack, plus Milady Fuyuno's
disappearance."

"Yeah, Tenchi. Don't sweat it; there's only a few dozen left.
They'll be gone in no time!"

Sasami just looked at Tenchi worriedly.

Washuu returned to her lab and inspected the captives with which
her guard-bots presented her. "Oh, just you three. I was hoping
I could actually catch Mihoshi this time. Hmmm... no point in
keeping any of you for my next lecture to Tenchi; I only need
one Juraian female for that. So out, I'm busy."

The cables holding Shiria, Pikko, and Teruzi obligingly extended
themselves and tossed the three out through the door.

Washuu sat down and started typing into her holographic laptop.
She only got a few keystrokes in, however, when she abruptly
stiffened. "How can I get any work done with all these
interruptions?" She closed her eyes and grew still.

Somewhere else, a stationary silhouette with spiky hair suddenly
animated itself. Its head turned to face Tokimi.

"What is it this time?"

"Sister, I am not happy with the way you are dealing with Yuzuha.
She is getting too close to Tenchi."

"Sez you. One: she has shown no interest in using Tenchi for
actual conception. Two: her essence will not contaminate Tenchi
if she did. Three: given which, you're just jealous."

"And is that so unreasonable? It is one thing to share my husband
with my own sisters and with pathetic ephemerals; it is another
entirely to share with an alien, and opposed, immortal."

"Some of those 'pathetic ephemerals' will live a considerable
fraction of the lifespan of their home universe."

"And what is that to such as us?"

"Whatever you make of it. Some of them are quite interesting.
You should try getting to know them better; you might find you
like it."

The spiky-haired silhouette lost animation. Tokimi stood, alone,
and considered.

"...and then the mean laughing woman disappeared, but she left me
wearing this yucky blonde wig and tacky clothes. That's when I
woke up."

"Well, Misao, what _I_ do when I have a scary dream is go sleep
with Tenchi-niichan. He protects me and then I don't feel scared
any more."

"THAT'S HORRIBLE!" interrupted Asuka. "Boys and girls should
never sleep together at his age until they're married!"

"Why not?" Sasami wondered. "Is it bad to feel protected? I know
Aeka-oneesama and Ryouko-neechan want to sleep with Tenchi."

"I guess they have scary dreams too," added Misao.

Sasami's eyes twinkled, but she only nodded, saying "...and I
think Mihoshi must, also. She was moaning when I walked in on her
and Tenchi the other night."

Asuka looked appalled. "YOU DID WHAT?"

"I walked into her bedroom. 'Cause I knew Tenchi was there, and
he'd protect me."

"And did they have their clothes on?" Asuka asked, with emphasis.

"No, silly. They were wearing pajamas." Sasami said, smiling.

"And what was Tenchi doing to her, the pervert?" In a lower
voice, Asuka continued, "I bet he's a pervert just like all boys!"

"I think he was trying to wake her up."

"HOW, exactly?" asked Asuka, suspicious.

"By tickling her."

"TICKLING her?" Asuka sounded dubious.

"You know, running his fingers over her chest and sides."

Rei took this moment to observe, "Mihoshi is from the planet
Daikyou, is she not?" Addressed ostensibly to Sasami, Rei gave
Asuka a significant look as she said this.

"I think so," answered Sasami, hesitantly.

"WHAT? How are we supposed to compete with one of those balloon-
breasted women?" Asuka protested, then whined, "It's not fair!"

In the yard, some of the more martially inclined newcomers used
Azaka and Kamidake for target practice. The latter stoically
endured the blue paint and white caps with which they'd been
decorated.

As usual, Menori composed music, this time a cheerful tune on a
small woodwind. She broke off to look mischievously at her
friends as they trudged out of the house to join her. "Next
mystery?" She giggled.

Shiria, Pikko, and Teruzi considered the shooting match for a
while in silence.

"That office," began Shiria, frowning with arms crossed, "belongs
to one of Tenchi's grandfathers, if I heard correctly."

"Indeed," agreed Pikko. "One of whom is the long-missing Prince
Youshou. Unmarried, and closer to the throne."

Teruzi closed her eyes momentarily. "Yes... It is Youshou's
office. Kiyone pictures an old but still active man, a bit like
both your fathers, but older. Kiyone hasn't seen or heard of him
since we arrived." Teruzi paused, then continued. "I don't sense
Prince Youshou anywhere in the vicinity, but he might be
shielded."

"Nothing on my sensors, either," said Pikko, checking her 'watch'.

"Nor mine," added Shiria. "Menori, what about your pets?"

Menori, distracted, stopped playing. Her eyes unfocused briefly.
"They're playing with Ryou-oh-ki at the far end of the lake."

"Can you get them to keep watch? If he is still here, he might
not think to hide himself from your pets," ventured Shiria.

"Who would? As a scientist," the amused Pikko commented, "I still
find those mystifying creatures quite baffling."

- - - - - - - - - -
"Come on, Kiyone, we should help!" Mihoshi looked at her partner,
puzzled at her reluctance. "As Galaxy Policewomen, it is our
duty to help protect innocent civilians. There might be another
attack by nefarious evildoers at any moment!"

Disgusted, Kiyone trailed the self-appointed posse patrolling
the grounds against another incursion.

"I swear," Kiyone gritted her teeth and muttered to herself, "if
another bunch of smirfiends jumps out of nowhere on top of us, I'm
going to kill someone. I'm not sure whether it will be Mihoshi or
Washuu, but I'm going to kill _someone_."

"ROOAAR!" screamed the ursine figures, appearing through a hole in
the air directly above Kiyone. Dozens of concealed weapons
appeared in various female hands, pointed in Kiyone's direction.
The shooting and slashing started.

Underneath the pile-up, Kiyone found herself staring face-to-male-
member at a decapitated corpse. Orange, smoking blooddrops ate
holes in her uniform. A red bow tie, clearly labeled "Made by
Washuu", fell on to her nose. "Great. Poohbares instead. Very
funny, Washuu."

- - - - - - - - - -
In the woods, Aeka and Tenchi walked slowly along, close but not
quite touching. Every once in a while, one glanced at the other
and blushed. Seemingly without volition, their feet traced a
path to a certain mountain cabin.

"Tenchi, I-"

"Aeka, I-"

Both broke off speaking. After a pause, Aeka continued. "Please
let me speak first, Tenchi-sama. You need not say anything, just
listen."

- -
Back at the house, Ryouko sat cross-legged above the veranda,
entertaining some of the newcomers. "Yes, it's true! I shared my
first time ever with my most bitter rival!"

- -
"At first I did not mind Ryouko's presence within me," Aeka
said slowly, looking down rather than at Tenchi. "I was caught
up in my own excitement over what you and I were about to do.
Oh, I hope you do not think that was too forward of me, Tenchi-
sama!"

- -
"And 'ol Aeka-hime was coming on to Tenchi like you wouldn't
believe!" Ryouko asserted, waving her sake bottle around at her
eager listeners. Several angled their necklaces or earrings for
better reception.

- -
"My skin felt on fire to your touch as your hands explored my
body. I cannot describe how I felt that you did indeed find me
attractive. I had been... more worried about that... than I
realized."

- -
"No warm-up for her, no sirree! She just wrapped her legs around
Tenchi, grabbed his ass, and pulled him right in!"

A murmur of appreciation rose from the growing audience.

- -
"It was at about that point when I realized that Ryouko was not
going to be content as a passenger in my body. I felt her
reaching for control, attempting to animate my body as she might
inanimate stone."

- -
"But no, that greedy, selfish Princess wanted to shut me out of
all my pleasure! I fought back, determined that I was going to
enjoy my first time with the man I love or die trying!"

- -
"I know that it was your first time too, Tenchi-sama. I am very
sorry that I was not better for you than I was. I could not
know; nor, I believe, could Ryouko, that her effort would
send us both into epileptic shock and unconsciousness."

- -
"There I was," Ryouko announced, pausing to chug a large swallow
of sake, "trying to enjoy myself with the love of my life,
and the Princess just goes and conks out completely. And she
almost took me with her, too! Fortunately, as I was in complete
control of our merged bodies, Tenchi and I went on to enjoy a very
eventful night! Hours and hours, and very well tooled, too, if
you know what I mean!" Ryouko winked.

- -
Tenchi stopped walking and embraced Aeka. "That's all right,
Aeka. Maybe it's just as well that you and Ryouko lost
consciousness; you probably saved me some embarrassment, and
yourselves some disappointment. I... lost control... almost
immediately when your merged bodies started shaking. I'll try to
do better next time."

Aeka, her face buried in Tenchi's chest, got out, "I wish you'd
stayed in bed with us. I was so worried the next morning when
you weren't there."

"I know. I'm sorry, Aeka. I meant to return, I really did.
I just needed to go for a walk, get some fresh air. I was
coming back, when... things happened."

"You cannot belong to me alone, Tenchi-sama, I know that. I grew
up knowing that. But I want to feel, when you have chosen me
for a night, that at least you belong to me, and me alone,
for that night. I want to wake up next to you."

Tenchi suppressed the impulse to add "and Ryouko." Instead, he
just held her for a time.

- - - - - - - - - -
And back at the house, a giant spectral apparition appeared over
the lake.

Misao screamed. Mihoshi eep'ed. Kiyone, struggling to creep out
from under a gory pile of poohbare corpses, muttered, "And now I
suppose _she's_ come to announce the end of the world."

"Greetings, ephemeral universelings. I am Tokimi, your fellow
wife-to-be. I have come to get to know you better."

THE END (for now).
