GET EXPOSED TO SCIENCE...
As you may have heard from reading the introduction, one of my life's passions include SCIENCE! I went from this stupid kid who was crying to my science teacher because I was so afraid to compete at the next level of the science fairs, to this wiser and more mature young woman who is currently the co-chair of the Student Advisory Board (SAB). I used to hate science in grade school, but now that I am older and wiser, it is actually my fave! It's funny, but I'm somewhat of a closet-case physics fanatic. I say closet-case because I am not quite out yet. I used to say physics sucks, of course unknown to Mrs. R, my physics teacher cuz she's totally against teh usage of the S word (she gave us a long lecture on how nothing in the universe "SUCKS", etc...), but anyway, the point is, I actually love physics, in retrospect... I actually learned A LOT from physics class... Some of my friends even go out on limbs and say I'm obsessed cuz the only thing I could think of on the first day of vacation while shopping around La Jolla was physics! I was reminded of it by the convex mirrors in the stores! WEIRD! Needless to say, science has become, and still is, a very big part of my life. This page is pretty much about the science fairs scene that I have been a part of for almost six years now. You will hear a little bit more about SAB, the GSDSEF, as well as other science fair related matters.

Please understand that this page will always be under MAJOR CONSTRUCTION! Hopefully I can update it often to go hand in hand with the latest science fair happenings.

Alright, many of you are probably wondering what's up with science fairs, so here's a little bit of info to give you guys a better idea on what the science fairs circuit really is like.

Here's the 411:

The Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair, or the GSDSEF, is a non-profit organization comprised of dedicated men and women of the San Diego County who volunteer hours and hours of themselves towards the running of an annual science fairs competition. Greater, as it is sometimes known as, is open to San Diego and Imperial County students from grades 7-12. The students work on science fairs projects, applying the scientific method of course, get screened, then compete at the County level once they pass the tough screening process. Once they pass the screening process, students then go through one week of science fairs mania! They are interviewed by judges for both their respective categories, which decide the place winners, as well as by professional society judges in which they are eligible to win many, many, many scholarships, prize money, trips, etc. The competition is tough, and I know from experience as I have been competiting for moe than 5 years, but the rewards are worth it!
