In the case of a beginning student starting at a basic listening/speaking level, it is much more important that they learn to get their points across -- and that they understand the meaning of what is being said to them -- than that they have any erudite comprehension of the exact grammar structures being employed.

That's because language is a tool for communication, not an interesting jigsaw puzzel wherein each word is translated and then counterimposed into another language's grammatical configuration.
