HobbsHello, thank you very much for taking the time to look around my page.  Let me see, where can I begin.  I guess I should start by introducing myself.  My name is Jung Jae Lee (ÀÌ Á¤Àç)... but lately, I've been calling myself "Jake".  I'm 25 years old.  What else can I tell you about myself.  I'm a Korean American (I'm one of those 1.5 generation).

To find our more about what the 1.5 generation is, you can go this this web site: 1.5 Generation  But here is a brief description if you don't want to read all that information.  Basically, the 1.5 generation are those of us who immigrated to the US at a young age, being able to combine both cultures (i.e. Korean and American).  It is a difficult process, dealing with identity crisis, cultural crisis, etc.  (I recommend you follow the link and read about the 1.5 Generation)

I came to the states on August 26, 1977 (I was almost 6 years old).  I actually remember that day... I remember the plane ride over, I remember the plane food, I even remember watching the movie.  But most painful of the memory, I remember getting all those shots that were required.  *ouch*

Family Picture I settled in Los Angeles with my parents and sister (I'm the shortest one in the picture... the one in blue and gold).  We moved into this tiny little apartment.  We had a living room, one bathroom, a kitchen, and one bedroom.  I think we lived there for about a year or two.  By this time, both my parents began working (my dad went into construction and my mom began work as a seamstress).  So my sister and I became latch key kids.  I remember my parents leaving for work early in the morning (before 6AM) and returning late in the evening, so it was up to my sister and I to get ready for school and behave ourselves when we got home.  I just want to point out that I was a good kid and didn't get into too much trouble... although I did once almost get hit by a car... but it wasn't my fault!  The driver was driving a bit to fast!  I swear!

Our next home was another apartment.  Once again, the same thing.  One bedroom, one bathroom.  it was ok... both my sister (who is 4 years older than me) and I were still very young and didn't need too much privacy.  I think we lived in that apartment until the middle of my fourth grade year.  It was then that we moved to beautiful *ack* (sorry.. I'm having trouble saying beautiful without choking) West Covina.

We have been living here at West Covina ever since.  Well, my parents have been living here ever since.  I on the other hand have moved around a bit.  After graduating from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, I got a job with Rockwell International as a Field Engineer.  I couldn't believe it!  It was a dream come true for me (at the time).  I feel that a streak of good luck was going for me at that time.  I also had a job offer from Intel.  Suffice to say, both my parents were extremely proud of me and (this may not mean much to many) but I was very excited to have my parents proud of me.

Oh, I should note, I now work for Boeing North American (Boeing).  Basically what had happened was that Rockwell sold the division that I work for to Boeing.  Go figure.  =)

One of my job requirements as a Field Engineer was to relocate.  I would be moving to the wonderful state of Washington.  But much to my dismay, it was not in Seattle but instead it was located across the sound... in the county of Kitsap.  Kitsap County isn't all that bad... it's quiet nice really, but I need a city life.  It's too far from any big city.  It's about a 2 hour drive to get to Seattle or you can take the ferry across.  If, you are in the Seattle area, I really recommend you take the ferry. So I lived up there for about 8 months then I was relocated back to LA.  I also got to visit Georgia and Florida.  (Let me tell you, if you ever visit the southern part of Georgia, I recommend that you get out of it as fast as you can!  If the world needed and enema, it would start in Kingsland, Georgia.)

Once I got back from my trip down south, I stayed in LA for almost a year.  My next assignment would be to Connecticut.  Specifically, Groton (sounds like rotten) and let me tell you... it's as bad as it sounds.  The only redeeming fact is that the city of Groton is close to New York City and Boston.  But other than that... nothing good is near or happening in Groton!  I moved there in July '96 and I've hated it ever since.  I live in an apartment with my roommate, Sean.  Like I said, the night life in Groton sucks.  Nothing to do at all... well there is an Indian Casino called Foxwoods.  It supposed to be the biggest casino in the world.  It just reminds me of the casinos in Las Vegas (other than the fact that there is only one).

Currently I'm in a state in flux right now.  I'm going to be relocated (once again) to LA.  So I'm jumping back and forth right now.

Thanks for taking your time to read all this boring stuff, if you want more info (I don't know why you would) you can e-mail me at jake-jungjae.lee@boeing.com and I'll write back to ya... maybe.
