Copper is a
noble material, and it is a joy to work with. Few other metals can rival the
richness of color and textures that you can achieve with copper.
Most of
these works are rather simple, and do not require lots of skill to
accomplish them. It's only the design and the good craftsmanship that give
them any value. |

Jewelry boxes
20 x 25
x 5 cms. aprox.
Here is
a couple of jewelry boxes that I made out of wood cigar boxes.
The one
in the right is an aztec motif, or an homage to the aztec culture, and
it has three bone carvings inlaid : an eagle, a snake and nahui ollin,
the fifth sun of the aztec cosmology. |

This one
in the left has some abalone shells inlaid, and the central motif
is the same one as in the entrance door of my house. This is a powerful
motif, and I wanted it done both in wood and in copper. |

Sundial
Here is a small copper
enameled sundial that works for the latitude of Mexico City (19°
20' N). It is a horizontal sundial in latitude 45° N, but the base is
tilted 25°, so it works for Mexico city. It is a simple sundial, only
the lines are enameled, but it is effective in its simplicity. Plate
diameter is about 25 cms. |
