I remember meeting Bob Mackie about 8 years ago and collectors had him sign their Barbie's legs, and I should have started collecting then but I didn't. It wasn't until I met me current lover, Ron, when he got me my first doll, and artist doll from the Queen Ann Bed Society Crochet Club and I was hooked.
Barbie for me is a connection to a past that I miss desperately, and she fills a void in my life that no other can fill, not even Ron. My aunt and I barely speak anymore because of my "life-style" (her words, not mine). Barbie also keeps me fashion-concious as I was a window dresser by trade. I also have been to college for fashion design.
About 8 months ago we were watching a HSN Barbie sell-a-thon when a guest from Mattel was talking about restoration and re-working Barbie and I decided to try my hand at it. I hope all of you enjoy some of the pictures of my work enclosed.
Ron and I have been together 6 years in March, he has 2 children, Ronny 32 and Tina 29, and we share 2 grandsons, Kyle who is 2 and Ryan who is 1 month old.
