The anti-armour helicopter is a high quality weapon system capable of providing a deterrent against superior armoured forces. The need for an attack purpose helicopter capable of protecting the utility transport helicopters was first felt during the Vietnam war. The Cobra helicopter was the answer. It's armament includes a cannon, rocket launchers and anti-armour missiles. It's narrow shape makes it less vulnerable to attack.
The helicopter was purchased as one of the lessons of the Yom Kippur War and it's baptism of fire took place during the "Peace Of Gallile Operation" (June 1982).
