Isle Royale Trip 2002
Isle Royale 2002

Isle Royale National Park is one of the best parks to visit for a true wilderness experience.   The island is great place for solitude and isolation.

Isle Royale, the largest island in Lake Superior, is best known for it's wildlife including timber wolves and moose.  I did not see any wolves, but you can see plenty of moose if you visit the island in early September.

If you are not crazy about moose, you can hike around the island and see pre-historic copper mines, shipwrecks; lighthouses; historic fisheries.

There is plenty of other activities besides hiking.  I recommend canoeing around Windigo, but kayaking should be only done  for those with plenty of prior experience.
