Plans for 1999 - New Crew

During 1999 I was working in Holland for the European Space Agency, getting some pennies together for the next cruise. My long-term crew, Sarah, had signed off Avalon at the end of the previous trip - she is now in the process of setting up a dive shop in Brittany. Check out her web site on http://www.oocities.org/Pipeline/Dropzone/3832.

I was very fortunate to find the ideal new crew, Annabelle. She saw the web site, got in touch, and we headed off at the end of January for a 6-month cruise. She has ocean sailing experience, is a certified diver, and can cook. She's a great person and I feel really lucky that we found each other.

We joined Avalon in Trinidad, then "did" Carnival (while getting the boat ready for launching). In May we were in Martinique and then Tobago for Race Week. We actually managed to come third in one of the races.

At the time of writing (August 2000) we are working in London, planning to head back out to the Caribbean in Semptember some time. This/next year we aim to head up to the Virgin Islands. Watch this space...

If you see us in the Caribbean, come over and say hello.
