On 1/24/1557, Sir John Maxwell of Terregles, Knight, granted to Christie Armstrong, called John's Christie, the teynds of the parish of Stabillgortoun, for which Armstrong undertook to pay yearly the sum of viij lbs. Scotch as long as he was in possession, and resign the same when called upon to do so.

Christopher led a raid into England, at Carlisle, where Kinmont Will was a prisoner, with 200 men, forged the wall, and released Kinmont Will, and they made their escape without a man lost. Among them were four sons of Kinmont Will, two Elliotts, and four Bells.
