Gabi Martinez was the sister Paula Stevens never knew she had. When Gabi came to town she wanted ruin her "perfect" sisters life. That mean't ruining the union of Paula and Ricardo Torres, Sunset Beach's ace detective. Gabi wiggled her way into their lives by moving in with the happy couple and basically ruining every chance of happiness the couple could muster. But needless to say, Gabi really wasn't the main problem in the Ricardo/Paula relationship. For one thing, Paula never trusted Ricardo. For in the past, he was known as a real ladies man. As time went on Gabi and Paula actually shared somewhat of a sister relationship. But in the background she was working her best to end the relationship her sister had with Ricardo. Gabi wanted him all for herself. Her plans began to work and Paula left Ricardo. Ricardo was so upset over losing Paula, that he went to The Deep and got plastered. Thats when Gabi made her move. She seduced Ricardo while he was intoxicated, and they had sex. When Ricardo realized what he had done, he asked Gabi to leave. He told her she would never be Paula and that he loved Paula. Thats when the collision began...thats when Gabi cried rape! It would seem to most that Gabi was only out to hurt Paula and Ricardo, so she cried rape. Most everyone believed her and Ricardo's life was in turmoil, that is until the trial. When the trial unfolded, everyone realized what the truth really was. Ricardo never raped Gabi. She had blocked out a serious part of her past, and on the stand, admitted under great stress that her father had in fact, molested her as a child. She had taken the aftermath of Ricardo's rejection and replaced it with her father's rape. It was really an emotional moment for Gabi, as she realized all the hell she had bottled up inside. Not to mention the hell she put Ricardo through. Gabi was so ashamed. So was Paula for not believing the man she loved. Paula tried to get Ricardo to forgive her, but he just couldn't, so she said goodbye to Gabi and left town. But that wasn't the end of Gabi and Ricardo

From the trial, Ricardo gained a new respect for Gabi and really made and effort to be her friend. She was someone who had been through a great deal, and he wanted to put the past behind them and become friends. Gabi also changed drastically from the trial. She was able to try and put what her father had done behind her and build a life for herself in Sunset Beach.

ENTER THE BROTHER, ANTONIO TORRES

Ricardo began to see Gabi in a different light after the trial and that led to them dating. They were both interested in pursuing a relationship but wanted to take things slow, to give her time to get over her past. They went out on a few dates and things were going smoothly until Shockwave hit and they were trapped together in the S.S. Neptune fighting for their lives. They survived the ordeal and came out a full-blown couple, realizing that life was too precious to waste. They have now been dating for a few months and things seem serious. In January they consumated their relationship and things seemed ok until Gabi discovered that Antonio was having some unholy feelings for her -- and he wasn't alone. She too, had a thing for him. Antonio decided to leave Sunset Beach to get away from Gabi, but that's when fate stepped in and trapped Gabi & Antonio together! Their lives would never again be the same...

THE BEGINNING OF THE TRIANGLE

Gabi and Antonio slept together, thinking they were going to die. Obviously, they came out of the explosion unharmed, thanks to Ricardo (who saved them with the help of Casey and Hank). Gabi and Antonio vowed to keep their tryst a secret, but trouble would soon find it's way, knocking on their door. That trouble was Francesca Vargas. She had a tape (to tape her and AJ - a whole other story) and it just happened to catch Antonio and Gabi's dirty deed. She used it to blackmail them into stealing money for her so she could leave town with Cole. Instead, Francesca ended up dead. Did Gabi kill in order to spare Ricardo? Did Antonio commit another sin?
